The motion was seconded by <br /> Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> RESOLUTION #1890 ESTABLISHING STOP SIGNS, ALL STREETS INTERSECTING HOPKINS AVENUE: <br /> Councilman Royer offered Resolution #1890 and moved adoption. This motion was <br /> seconded by Councilman Stout and carried on Roll Call, Councilman Granger noted <br /> absent. <br /> INTRODUCTION OF 1955 -56 SALARY ORDINANCE: Councilman Jones moved introduction of Salary <br /> Ordinance, seconded by Councilman Spillers. The City Attorney advised this Salary <br /> Ordinance would be retroactive to July 1, 1955. Motion carried on Roll Call, <br /> Councilman Granger noted absent. <br /> AUTHORIZE CANCELLATION OF TAXES, DELINQUENT TAX ROLL: City Collector Paul E. Perrin <br /> advised that the following amounts had been carried in the Delinquent Tax Rolls, <br /> some for several years: <br /> Property Taxes $711.14 <br /> Weed Abatement Assessment 338.73 <br /> A number of these unpaid assessments date back over a ten -year period and were orig- <br /> inally assessed against properties now in the name of the City of Redwood City. <br /> Others have covered assessments on properties acquired by the Division of Highways, <br /> elementary school district and properties now used for street extensions and asess- <br /> ments. Councilman Jones moved that the City Collector be authorized to cancel items <br /> specified above. This motion was seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br /> REPORT ON BID OPENING - 4 YARD DUMP TRUCK, WATER DEPARTMENT: The following bids were <br /> received: <br /> Ferris Miles, Inc. $3, <br /> Towne Motor Co. . 3,920.30 <br /> Russ Denney Auto Sales & Service 3,986.62 <br /> Hoyt Pontiac, G.M.C. 4,102.80 <br /> Water Superintendent Winter and City Manager, Mr.., Rolison, recommended that the low <br /> bid of Ferris Miles, Inc. in the amount of $3,883.30 be accepted. Councilman Stout <br /> moved approval of recommendation, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br /> COMMUNICATION FROM WESTWOOD TERRACE IMPROVEMENT CLUB REGARDING PROPOSED SHELTER FOR BUS <br /> PATRONS: The Improvemait Club is contemplating the purchase of two concrete benches <br /> for location at Roosevelt - Fairview and Alameda - Roosevelt bus stops in the Westwood <br /> Terrace area. They are also considering the possibility of erection of rain shelters <br /> at these two locations and are interested in finding out what would be the City's <br /> attitude toward the erection of such shelter. They also request information of the <br /> City's recommended type of structure and whether or not the City would construct and <br /> install such shelters and at what estimated cost. <br />
