City Manager, Rolison reported the following bids
for 1250 GPM Pumping Engine:
"Coast Manufacturying $21,478.59
American La France 22,328.25
Van Pelt 22,652.79
Crown 24,273.81
Seagrave 2 5,33 8 .00
While our notice to bidders anticipated the possibility of turning
in the e quipment to be replaced, this was abandoned in accordance
with the Fire Chief's recommendation, which was approved by the City
Council at the meeting of June 27, 1955.
In the attached analysis of bids Chief Lodi calls attention to the
fact that only the Seagrave Company complies with the City's specifi-
cations completely. He also calls attention to our past favorable
experience with similar equipment, and the fact that the best engine
should be purchased since it will probably be in service for the next
twenty years.
