(1) Canyon Road from Oak Knoll Drive to Highlands Avenue. <br /> (2) Highlands Avenue from Canyon Road to Jefferson Avenue. <br /> (3) Jefferson Avenue from Dover Road to Lakeview Way. <br /> Councilman Spillers offered RESOLUTION 1821 and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman <br /> Jones and carried on roll call, Councilmen Britschgi and Stout noted absent. <br /> INSPECTION OF BUILDING LOCATED AT 846 - 852 MAIN STREET. This utility building is located at <br /> the rear of the existing brick structure and has been found to be in very bad shape by the <br /> Building Inspector, Fire Marshal and Health Department. Councilman Spillers moved build- <br /> ing be posted, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. <br /> COMMUNICATION FROM PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT. This communication requested that December <br /> 20th Council minutes be corrected to indicate that the Commission had made no decision <br /> regarding a commercial venture to be known as Fish Grotto at the Yacht Harbor, however, <br /> they feel that they are obligated to eventually recommend-favorably or unfavorably if the <br /> Yacht Harbor land is used to house this commercial venture. Councilman Granger was of the <br /> opinion that the Council should make a decision and clean up this matter without further <br /> delay. Recreation Director Morton advised that the Commission had been unable to make a <br /> decision until such time as the location is decided upon. Councilman Royer stated that he <br /> could see no objections to the Fish Grotto if it did not interfere with Recreation or with <br /> Port facilities. Councilman Jones was of the opinion that this venture might prove to be <br /> a distinct asset to the city if properly developed. Councilman Royer then moved that the <br /> Council go on record as not opposing the Fish Grotto if satisfactory property can be fur- <br /> nished which will not interfere with the Recreational program or Port facilities. The <br /> motion was seconded by Councilman Jones. Mayor Herkner suggested that the City Manager <br /> 1 <br /> and members of the Park and Port Commissions get together and decide if there is any pro- <br /> perty available. City Manager replied that he had contacted the Port Commissioners and <br /> they still were not able to decide where this business could be located inasmuch as the <br /> Port is still negotiating with the Southern Pacific Company for a location of a spur track. <br /> Included in the original motion was the condition that a letter be addressed to the Port <br /> Commissioners requesting an answer within fifteen days. Motion carried, Councilmen Spil- <br /> lers and Granger voting NO. Mrs. Vera Eskin addressed the Council to the effect that the <br /> Yacht Harbor was a great potential play ground area and should be developed over the years <br /> to the end that it become a recreational area, seconded by none. After further discussion <br /> it was the expressed opinion of the Council that they were anxious to receive the recom- <br /> mendations of the Port and Recreation Commissions as soon as possible. <br /> COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM MRS. H. JAMIESON, 312 CHESTNUT STREET, COMPLIMENTING. THE SEWER <br /> DEPARTMENT FOR THEIR PROMPTNESS IN ANSWER TO AN EMERGENCY CALL, was noted and ordered filed. <br /> LETTER FROM THE DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS ADDRESSED TO CITY ENGINEER JAIN CALLED ATTENTION TO THE <br /> COST OF INSTALLING A FLASHING BEACON AND SAFETY LIGHT AT THE EL CAMINO, DUMBARTON AVENUE, <br /> OAKWOOD DRIVE INTERSECTION should a modification be required at a later date, the only <br /> material which would be replaced would be those for the flashing beacon installation. The <br /> cost of one luminaire is in excess of the contribution being made by the City to the en- <br /> tire project. The City would be entitled to one quarter of the salvage value of all mat- <br /> erials that may be removed from this installation at any future date. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDS DENIAL APPLICATION ROY BECK FOR VARIANCE TO ALLOW EXTEggION OF <br /> NON - CONFORMING USE AT 3703 FLORENCE.
