City Engineer Jain stated that if the rainy seasons start before this pro- ject is finished then we would be in trouble because the cofferdam would have to be opened, and the work stopped. Councilman Royer asked that a letter be written to the contractor telling him the amount of time left and the danger involved if the rains set in. City Engineer Jain stated that he has already told them about this matter. Councilman Granger again stated that the Insurance Company should be notified of their liability. He made an amendment to the motion that the City Attorney review the contract and then the insurance company be notified of the situation, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. PROGRESS PAYMENT NO. 1 TO CARL N. SWENSON CO., INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,503.00, REDWOOD CREEK CHANNEL IMPROVEMENT, PARKING DISTRICT NO. 1. City Engineer Jain stated the above sum was all the money they have earned as of August 1st on this job, 50% of the time has been used up. The Clerk read the letter wherein it was stated that our letter of July 29th concerning the freeway south of the San Carlos border was being referred to the Director of the State Department of Public Works for attention and further reply.
