their letter, which the Clerk read, they report that there is included in the current <br /> fiscal year budget funds for the start of rights -of -way acquisition on this particular <br /> portion, and it is their understanding that a good percentage of the right of way has <br /> actually been acquired. As to the construction of this project no funds have been <br /> allocated as yet and, unfortunately, they cannot state at this time just when such <br /> funds can be made available. Plans are now being prepared for this unit and it is <br /> 1 <br /> hoped that construction can be made possible in the not too distant future. <br /> COMMUNICATION FROM PENINSULA CIVIC LEAGUE REGARDING PROPOSED YACHT HARBOR. In their letter, <br /> the league asked that the Council proceed with their plans for recreational activi- <br /> ties at the Yacht Harbor as soon as possible. Councilman Jones moved that the letter <br /> be referred to the Yacht Harbor Committee for study and report at their earliest <br /> convenience, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Councilman Granger questioned report- <br /> . <br /> ing back to the Council, if there were some suggestions that could be used let the <br /> Committee take out the points and put it into effect. <br /> When questioned by the Mayor as to the availability of and, Councilman Britschgi <br /> reported that the land is available, however, the Committee is working on the initial <br /> matter of dredging. 15 or 20 acres will be needed to dispost of material from the <br /> dredging. Councilman Stout spoke in. regard to the possibility of the miniature rail- <br /> road being moved to this area. Motion carried. . <br /> COMMUNCCATION FROM THE REDWOOD CITY FIREMAN'S ASSOCIATION INVITING COUNCIL TO ANNUAL BALL <br /> ON SEPTEMBER 17, 1955. Councilman Stout moved acceptance of invitation and acknowledge- <br /> ment of the acceptance, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br /> COMMUNCCATION FROM CITY AUDITOR REQUESTING AUTHORITY TO TRANSFER $80,000 FROM GENERAL <br /> RESERVE TO GENERAL FUND. Councilman Stout offered RESOLUTION 1917 TRANSFERRING VBO,oOo <br /> FROM THE GERNERAL RESERVE ACCOUNT TO THE GENERAL FUND and moved adoption, seconded <br /> by Councilman Britschgi and carried on roll call, Councilman Royer and Spillers noted <br /> absent. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER reported that the American Legion still wants old newpapers. He also <br /> brought up the subject of a parking lot in the vicinity of S. P. freight shed. Council- <br /> man Granger moved that a letter be written to the Southern Pacific Company asking for <br /> and extension of the area now in lease to the City to make all the area possible for <br /> parking, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE stated that at the meeting of August 15th there was a question raised <br /> by the Council in regard to a use permit issued to John Clarkson for a Used Car Parking <br /> Lot. After a discussion in regard to use permits being granted and the granting of a <br /> license for a used car lot, Councilman Stout moved that the issue be dropped by the <br /> Council, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER asked to have the entrance to the City, Finger Avenue and El Camino Real, <br /> cleaned up. <br /> A gentleman in the audience addressed the Council in regard to the burning at the City Dumps <br /> and asked if anything was going to be done in the next five years. After a short dis- <br /> cussion, it was brought out that the County has offered to conduct a survey. One of <br /> the ideas being considered by this group is a tri -City dump to b e located off the end <br /> of the San Carlos overpass at the dead end slough out at the Ohio Building off of <br /> Bayshore Highway. The present City Dump will not last 2 years. <br />
