City Attorney stated that the Youngers were willing to <br /> accept the sum of $2,300,00 net to them for all of the lots in question. Mr. Currie <br /> felt that this was not out of line in view of the price paid recently by the City for <br /> the lots immediately across the street. <br /> Councilman Britschgi moved acceptance of City Attorney's report, City Manager to check <br /> into the availibility of the funds and report at the next meeting, seconded by Council- <br /> man Stout and carried. <br /> Councilman Stout left the meeting at 9:55 and returned at 9:58. <br /> DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS REQUEST CANCELLATION OF TAXES ON LOT 3, BLOCK 8, BELLE HAVEN SUBDIVISION. <br /> Councilman Britschgi moved approval of request, seconded by Councilman Jones and <br /> carried. <br /> CLAIM ALLEGED INJURIES EVELYN BOJO, FALL AT 632 PINE STREET. Councilman Britschgi moved <br /> claim be denied and referred to the insurance carrier, seconded by councilman Jones and <br /> carried. <br /> TRAFFIC COMMITTER RECOMMENDED LOADING ZONE, MAIN STREET AT SEQUOIA HOTEL. Mayor Herkner was <br /> of the opinion that this was approved about two years ago. Councilman Jones stated <br /> that it had been denied. Captain Faulstich stated that this had formerly been a loading <br /> zone and that the traffic situation was such that they now would like to move the zone <br /> around the corner, south of the pedestrian lane. Councilman Jones moved approval of <br /> the Traffic Committee recommendation, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> TRAFFIC COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED INSTALLING CHATTER BARS TO PREVENT LEFT TURNS ONTO BAYSHORE <br /> HIGHWAY AT JEFFERSON AVENUE, MIDDLEFIELD ROAD AND CHARTER STREET. Councilman Britschgi <br /> moved approval of the Traffic Committee recommendation, seconded by Councilman Granger. <br /> City Engineer Jain stated that they had tried painting but it did not prove satisfactory. <br /> Motion carried. The necessary encroachment permit will be requested from Division of <br /> Highways. <br /> COMMUNICATION FROM GOVERNOR KNIGHT REGARDING BUTANO FOREST. In his letter the Governor <br /> Stated that the timber cutting in the north half of the north half of Section 22 will <br /> cease until the State and the timber operators can agree upon a highly selective system <br /> of logging which will protect the scenic value of that portion of the area. Further- <br /> ' more, not timber will be cut in the south half of the north half of Section 22. Under <br /> the agreement, timber cutting will take place in Section 16 and in the east half of the <br /> southeast quarter of Section 17. <br /> Subject to prior approval of the State Park Commission, it is the intention of the <br /> Governor to incorporate the proposed purchase in the budget which he will submit to the <br /> I/ Legislature in March, 1956.
