Councilman Jones offered ordinance, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried on roll call, Councilman Royer and Spillers noted absent. CITY ATTORNEY REGARDING PURCHASE OF LOTS 23 to 28, BLOCK 37, CENTRAL PARK NO. 2, Myrtle between Madison and creek. City Attorney stated that the Youngers were willing to accept the sum of $2,300,00 net to them for all of the lots in question. Mr. Currie felt that this was not out of line in view of the price paid recently by the City for the lots immediately across the street. Councilman Britschgi moved acceptance of City Attorney's report, City Manager to check into the availibility of the funds and report at the next meeting, seconded by Council- man Stout and carried. Councilman Stout left the meeting at 9:55 and returned at 9:58. DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS REQUEST CANCELLATION OF TAXES ON LOT 3, BLOCK 8, BELLE HAVEN SUBDIVISION. Councilman Britschgi moved approval of request, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. CLAIM ALLEGED INJURIES EVELYN BOJO, FALL AT 632 PINE STREET. Councilman Britschgi moved claim be denied and referred to the insurance carrier, seconded by councilman Jones and carried. TRAFFIC COMMITTER RECOMMENDED LOADING ZONE, MAIN STREET AT SEQUOIA HOTEL. Mayor Herkner was of the opinion that this was approved about two years ago. Councilman Jones stated that it had been denied. Captain Faulstich stated that this had formerly been a loading zone and that the traffic situation was such that they now would like to move the zone around the corner, south of the pedestrian lane. Councilman Jones moved approval of the Traffic Committee recommendation, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. TRAFFIC COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED INSTALLING CHATTER BARS TO PREVENT LEFT TURNS ONTO BAYSHORE HIGHWAY AT JEFFERSON AVENUE, MIDDLEFIELD ROAD AND CHARTER STREET. Councilman Britschgi moved approval of the Traffic Committee recommendation, seconded by Councilman Granger. City Engineer Jain stated that they had tried painting but it did not prove satisfactory. Motion carried. The necessary encroachment permit will be requested from Division of Highways. COMMUNICATION FROM GOVERNOR KNIGHT REGARDING BUTANO FOREST. In his letter the Governor Stated that the timber cutting in the north half of the north half of Section 22 will cease until the State and the timber operators can agree upon a highly selective system of logging which will protect the scenic value of that portion of the area. Further- ' more, not timber will be cut in the south half of the north half of Section 22. Under the agreement, timber cutting will take place in Section 16 and in the east half of the southeast quarter of Section 17. Subject to prior approval of the State Park Commission, it is the intention of the Governor to incorporate the proposed purchase in the budget which he will submit to the I/ Legislature in March, 1956. This will place the Butano Forest State Park project before the Legislature one month before the earliest date on which any funds appropriated by the Omnibus Park and Beach Bill could have been expended for this project under the restrictions contained in that bill.
