Water 4157,439.77 <br /> Off - Street Parking 119,529.57 <br /> War Memorial 244,842.87 <br /> Equipment Replacement 127,662.35 <br /> City Auditor Brophy explained that the money which is transferred now would be replaced <br /> next month when the tax money is made available. Councilman Granger offered RESOLUTION <br /> NO. 1925 TRANSFERRING $100,000.00 FROM THE WAR MEMORIAL FUND and moved its adoption, <br /> seconded by Councilman Royer. After discussion as to the proper fund to borrow from, <br /> Councilman Granger withdrew his motion. <br /> Councilman Granger then offered RESOLUTION NO. 1925 TRANSFERRING 5100,000.00 FROM THE <br /> WATER FUND and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried on roll <br /> call, Councilman Spillers noted absent. <br /> Councilman Jones asked the City Attorney if they were proceeding with the acquisition of <br /> property for parking lots 2 and 3 in the downtown Parking District No. 1. City Attorney <br /> Currie replied that he intended to file action at the end of September on Towne property. <br /> Engineers are to draw up plate of Parking Lot No. 3 and the title report will be brought <br /> up to date and an appraiser will be hired shortly. He asked that the Engineering Depart- <br /> ment give immediate thought to these two lots and the extension of the creek to Main <br /> Street. <br /> Councilman Britschgi asked that consideration be given to naming a street after Mamie Glennan. <br /> After discussion, Councilman Granger moved that the recommendation of Councilman <br /> Britschgi be referred tothe Planning Commission and they request that such a street be <br /> named. Councilman Britschgi seconded the motion and added that it should be a suitable <br /> street. Councilman Royer suggested the next appropriate street in the Farm Hill's area. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Councilman Granger referred to the installation of parking meters in the vicinity of the <br /> • Liquor Store on Broadway and Jefferson Avenue. Captain Faulstich stated that this <br /> problem has been t aken care of. <br /> Councilman Royer reported that he had a letter from H. E. Holmquist wherein he asked per- <br /> mission to move a 20' by 40' steel frame building (Class!{.) from the rear of 875 Main Street <br /> to the southeasterly corner of his block of land at 875 Walnut. Street. He stated that <br /> an application has been made to the Planning Commission, the property posted, and every- <br /> thing is permissable according to the Code and Building Inspectors. Since the Planning <br /> Commission doesn't meet until the 13th and time is of the essence for the request, <br /> Mr. Holmquist asked approval by the Council at this time. Councilman Royer moved that <br /> Mr. Holmquist be allowed to move his building to his lot, seconded by Councilman Stout <br /> subject to approval by the Planning Commission and proper department heads. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> Councilman Stout asked the City Manager if he has heard from the Southern Pacific Company in <br /> regard to the crossing. City Manage- Rolison replied that the last communication came <br /> ,addressed to the City Clerk. Report next meeting. <br /> Councilman Stout told about a recent accident which happened in Sunnyvale where the train <br /> signals continue ringing at the intersection. He stated the similarity of events which <br /> might occur here in Redwood City if something isn't done about the Jefferson Avenue <br /> crossing. <br /> After the discussion, Councilman Stout moved that the City Manager be instructed to <br /> contact the Southern Pacific Company in an effort to have a watchman at the crossing <br />
