Councilman Granger moved that this matter of the pile driver be <br /> _ referred tothe acting City Manager, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> Councilman Granger asked if the City Clerk had ever written a letter to the PG&E in regard <br /> to lighting on Whipple and Stafford Street. City Engineer Jain replied that this <br /> had been taken care of. <br /> Councilman Granger brought up the subject of pedestrian lane on the corner of Jefferson <br /> Avenue and Upton Street. Captain Faulstich stated that there was a crossing at <br /> Alameda de las Pulgas and Jefferson Avenue and a school crossing guard was also on <br /> this corner. Councilman Granger asked that this be referred to the Traffic Fact <br /> Finding Committee for study. So ordered, the Committee to report their findings <br /> within 2 weeks. <br /> City Attorney Currie stated that he had the agreement with the Redwood City Elementary <br /> School District and asked that the Mayor be authorized to sign this agreement for <br /> the sale of Hawes Park and providing for the City to purchase from the City of <br /> San Francisco that portion which is needed to complete the area in question. <br /> Councilman Britschgi stated that a definite price should be placed on the property <br /> in question before the City signs any agreement with the school. This was follow- <br /> ed by discussion after which Councilman Britschgi moved that this be put on the <br /> agenda for one week and the City Attorney was asked to obtain further information <br /> in regard to the cost. <br /> City Attorney Currie asked that the deeds of _Carl and Delfina DePetrius and Carl, Leonard, <br /> Joseph Britschgi and their wives for the area covering the creek north of Broadway <br /> in regard to the Parking District. Councilman Britschgi moved that the City Clerk <br /> be authorized to accept the above deeds, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br /> City Attorn- Currie stated that complications have arisen on the parcels owned by the <br /> Purity Stores and two other property owners. He asked that this be discussed with <br /> the Council at a Committee meeting. He stated that these owners want to talk to the <br /> City before any action is taken. Councilman Jones stated that the Committee is ready <br /> to meet with these people. <br /> The City Clerk read a letter from the Division of Highways in reply to our letter of <br /> July 14, 1955 advising of a request by the City Council for the installation of <br /> traffic signals at the intersection of Woodisde Road and Massachusetts Avenue. <br /> The State has completed a traffic signal study of this intersection and are sorry <br /> that they connot recommend installation of traffic signals at the present time due <br /> to insufficient signal warrants. However, they will continue to observe conditions <br /> at this intersection and will reconsider a signal installation if any appreciable <br /> increase in traffic occurs. <br /> Councilman Granger asked that the City Clerk be directed to write a letter to find out <br /> when the State made this survey. Councilman Jones was of the opinion that this <br /> was not done while school was in progress but sone time this summer. Mayor Herkner <br /> so directed the Clerk and ask that the study be made during school hours. The Mayor <br /> stated that the motion was lost for want of a second. Councilman Britschgi moved <br /> that a copy of the Division of highways letter be sent to the school, seconded by <br /> Councilman Jones and carried. <br /> Councilman Granger reported that the Bourquin property is about to be sold.
