Bid bonds were included with all the <br /> bids. The bids were referred to the City Engineer for checking. Councilman Royer <br /> offered RESOLUTION 1932 FOR CONDEMNATION OF EASEIENT FOR RIGHT -OF -WAY PURPOSES and <br /> moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll call. <br /> Councilman Granger offered RESOLUTION 1930 TRANSFERRING $739.64 TO COVER THE <br /> CONDEANATION OF THE ABOVE PROPERTY and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman <br /> Stout and carried on roll call. <br /> REPORT ON CONDITION OF VETERANS' BUILDING. Building Inspector Kreiss, in his letter, <br /> stated that his office had made an inspection of the Veterans' Building and found <br /> the following condition: <br /> That the temporary repairs should be made with like materials to protect the <br /> structure. A definite program should be arrived at as there are other deficiencies <br /> that need attention. Repair front porch and renew side boards. <br /> Pasco Balzarini, Superintendent of Parks and buildings, in his report stated the <br /> following: <br /> The windows in the building and restrooms are constantly broken. The Park Depart- <br /> ment connot keep any windows in the restrooms because some unknown person or persons <br /> keep breaking them. There are, also, broken doors, paint on toilet seats, vulgar <br /> writings on the walls, broken urinal, sand and dirt in the wash basins, water always <br /> turned on in the wash basins, garbage cans turned over and debris scattered around <br /> the park, lawn torn up and scattered around the playground, broken lights in tennis <br /> courts, and tennis nets cut. <br /> In addition, there are carvings on the new park tables and benches, also broken <br /> slats on new park benches, broken handles on see -saws, broken beer bottles in the <br /> sand box, and 36 sprinkler heads have been destroyed. <br /> The new asphalt roof tile on the Veterans' Building has been torn up so that when <br /> the first rain comes, it will leak into the building. <br /> Councilman Granger stated that the Veterans' Building should not be charged with <br /> anything other than the damage to the building itself and the upset garbage cans. <br /> The other problems should be handled by and charged to the Park Department. <br /> Councilman Britschgi stated in his opinion that the Park and Recreation Commission <br /> should look into the possibility of a cyclone fence around the Veterans' Building <br /> to help stop the vandalism of the building. <br /> Councilman Stout was of the opinion that heavy gauge wire should be installed to <br /> cover the windows in all the rest rooms to help the situation. Councilman Spillers <br /> moved that the matter be turned over to the City Manager for repairs, seconded by <br /> Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> COMMUNICATION FROM THE P. G. & E.
