John Fast, Pastor of..the.Free Methodist Church. <br /> ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Carl A. Britschgi, Paul Jones, <br /> William H. Royer, Robert V. Spillers, Hiram _ Mayor Sidney.D..Herkner and City <br /> Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were City Manager. E. A. Rolison, City Attorney C. B. <br /> Currie, City Engineer Glenn..M.. Jain.,.. Water Sup.erintendent..H... L. Winter, Police Chief <br /> William.Faulstich, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Engineering Associate Arthur Eskelin, <br /> Assessor- Auditor John _J. Brophy,. Administrative.Assi -s.tant Orrin E. Wendling and Fire <br /> Chief J. L. Lodi, <br /> REPORT OF THE CINNABAR COMMITTEE BY COUNCILMAN_ GRANGER. Councilman Granger stated that a <br /> suplementary. meeting. had been held, last week, It was the .feeling of the Committee that <br /> the Oddstad .bid, .wherein. they offered_ 11%.. of .the. gross and..50 of the net plus a 410, 000.00 <br /> guarantee, was _the..best bid, . The Committee recommended..that. the. Council accept the bid <br /> subject. to the _terms of agreement .. to be prepared by .the .Ci.ty. Attorney. Councilman Granger <br /> also stated that all.checks should b.e returned to the makers. <br /> Councilman Britschgi moved that they accept the recommendation of the Cinnabar Committee <br /> and accept the bid of A. F. Oddstad, nd all other bids and money be returned to the <br /> P , Jr., , y <br /> unsuccessful bidders, seconded by Councilman Spillers. 0n the question there was a dis- <br /> cussion regarding the installation of mills and plans for the Oddstad mill. Councilman <br /> Jones wanted to know if the.$1O.,000,00.would belong to. the City even though there were no <br /> ore taken from the ground. .According.to.the bid this would be correct. Councilman Stout <br /> wanted to.g.o on.record.that no. milling would. be done in the area. Councilman Granger <br /> stated that the. property. will. be ..restored to t he. original .level.__ Motion carried, agree- <br /> ment to be . brought. bask at. the.next..Council meeting. <br /> Councilman Stout moved a vote of thanks. be extended.to the Committee for their work on <br /> behalf . of. the . Ci.ty,. seconded.. b.y . Councilman_ .Jones .and . carried. Councilman Granger, Brit-. <br /> schgi. and.Spillers.were. the members on.the Cinnabar Committee. <br /> CITY CLERK REPORT. ON CONCRETE BENCHES. The City. Clerk reported..that.he.was.in receipt of six <br /> offers.for..concrete benches. Kiwanis..Club..and the.. Business. and_ Professional Womens Club <br /> wish to select the .location . fo.r._ t he. benches.. . Councilman Stout stated. that he was of the <br /> opinion that Clubs would be given a chance to pick out the location. <br /> Councilman Stout then moved that this matter be turned over to the City Manager to find <br /> out how soon this program can proceed so that the service clubs can be notified, seconded <br /> by Councilman Britschgi. City Manager Rolison stated that at one time this was turned <br /> over to the Planning Commission and he wanted to know if the Council still wanted this <br /> matter turned. over to them. Mayor Herkner.stated.that he thought this should be left up <br /> to the. City Manager. ..Motion.carried.._.A .representative of the Westwood Terrace Improve- <br /> ment Club..reported that they had.. voted.. funds.. _for.. two benchea.. the total to <br /> eight. <br /> REPORT BY BUILDING INSPECTOR ON FOSTER & KLEISER SIGN ON BAYSHORE HIGHWAY NEAR FIFTH AVENUE. <br /> In his report Building Inspector. Kreiss.reported. a use Permit was .approved on May 21j., <br /> 1955, for.. the..rea.ocation o.f_ .the _ exi.sting .signs. on Bayshore Highway, 125 south of eifth <br /> Avenue.. Owing to theState Highway acquiring the lands where the existing signs were, <br /> it was necessary for Foster & Kleiser to make the above request. The application was <br /> • <br />
