City Manager presented a letter of resignation from Orrin E. Wendling, Administrative Assis- tant, effective December 2, 1955. Councilman Stout moved that a letter be written extending the Councils regrets and best wishes on his new job, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. Councilman.Granger, basing his. remarks on. the resignation, was .of the opinion that the City has grown to_approximately 40,000 population and he thinks the City has arrived at the point that_a survey should...be made_t.o see.if another Administrative Assistant should be hired or if the City has grown to the extent_ that_ an Assistant .City Manager position should be created. Councilman. On the question.Counc.ilman Jones stated that this w as going. to throw quite a bit. of confusion on the City Manager.. He should be allowed to hire extra help until such time as the Council desides if they are going to hire a full .time..employee. Council- man Royer stated that the .City Manager could come to the Council .and ask for help if he needs it. This was followed by.general discus.sion'in regard to hiring help. Councilman. Stout amended the motion in include that the City "anager be granted authority to hire help while the Council is looking into the problem, seconded by Councilman Jones.
