Councilman Granger offered Resolution <br /> 1838 and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Spillers, which carried on roll call, <br /> Councilmen Britschgi and Jones noted absent. <br /> DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH RE: SURVEY OF WATER RESERVOIR. Letter from Department of Public <br /> Health regarding this matter. The letter indicated that the department advises against <br /> the use of the site under consideration in creek bed draining the Emerald Lake area. City <br /> Engineer Jain advised the Council that any site selected must be approved by the State <br /> agency. Mayor Herkner appointed a committee of Councilmen Britschgi, Granger and Spillers <br /> to contact Sterling Homes to go over the matter of Reservoir sites. Councilman Royer <br /> brought up the matter of the site in back of the hospital which was placed on the Agenda <br /> for the next meeting. <br /> APPROVE ANNEXATION HIGHLANDS TERRITORY #4. Map presented to the Council. Letter from Planning <br /> Commission read. Since petition is still out, this to be held up for two weeks. City <br /> Attorney advised the Council that if accepted now, the Resolution can be drawn up and when <br /> presented for approval, Resolution will be ready for adoption. So moved by Councilman <br /> Spillers, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br /> APPROVE J. V. MURPHY APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE TO ALLOW EIGHT (8) FEET SIDE YARD ON STREET SIDE <br /> OF CORNER LOT 8, BLOCK 6, KENSINGTON SQUARE (Oakridge Way and Jefferson Avenue). Council- <br /> man Royer moved that application be approved and offered RESOLUTION 1840 for adoption, <br /> seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. Councilmen Britschgi and Jones noted absent. <br /> APPROVE DR. MELEYCO APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE TO ALLOW FIVE (5) FOOT REAR YARD FOR MEDICAL BUILD- <br /> ING AT 155 BIRCH STREET (Lot 14, Block 6, Redwood Highlands). Fire Chief Lodi voiced opin- <br /> ion that it is not good practice to allow such a variance very often as the minimum for fire <br /> fighting purposes is fifteen feet between two buildings. Councilman Royer offered RESOLU- <br /> TION 1841 approving the variance, and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Spillers <br /> which carried on roll call. Councilmen Britschgi and Jones noted absent. <br /> APPROVE DR. GURNEE APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE TO ALLOW FIVE (5) FOOT REAR YARD FOR MEDICAL BUILD- <br /> ING AT 52 ARCH STREET (Lot 11, Block 5, Redwood Highlands). Councilman Granger offered <br /> RESOLUTION 1842 approving application and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Stout <br /> and carried on roll call. Councilmen Britschgi and Jones noted absent. <br /> CHANGE ALL AREA PRESENTLY ZONED R -4 FROM FIRE ZONE NO. 3 TO FIRE ZONE NO. 2 AS RECOMMENDED BY <br /> FIRE CHIEF LODI. Councilman Granger moved that the matter be referred to City Attorney <br /> to prepare necessary Ordinance, seconded by Councilman Royer and :carried. <br /> USE PERMITS ISSUED BY PLANNING COMMISSION EFFECTIVE THURSDAY, MARCH 17, 1955. <br /> (a) Councilman Spillers moved that Commercial Swim Pool at the Northeast corner of "C" <br /> Street and Stafford Street, C -1 Zone be approved, seconded by Councilman Royer <br /> and carried. <br /> (b) Councilman Stout moved approval of application to extend Bouskos Bros. Used Car <br /> Lot at 1601 E1 Camino Real, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> II RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS: COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT HEADS. <br /> COUNCILMAN SPILLERS MOVED THAT SIDEWALK NOTICES BE PACKAGED AND PUT OUT TO BID THEREBY SAVING <br /> THE PROPERTY OWNERS SOME MONEY. Councilman Spillers had been given to understand that con- <br /> tractors advise the City Engineer of defective sidewalks, then solicit the business after <br /> notices have been sent. City Engineer Jain assured the Council that this is not the case. <br /> Cotncilman Granger seconded the motion which carried. <br />
