Councilman Royer suggested <br /> that the motion include acceptance of the 7i foot set -back. This condition was added to the <br /> motion which was seconded by Councilman Spillers. City Attorney Currie advised the Coun- <br /> cil that this was a conditional approval on delivery of deed for 7- foot set -back. Build- <br /> ing permit will be granted upon receipt of deed. Motion carried. <br /> WIDOW'S CLUB, INC. Councilman Granger requested that the City Clerk read excerpts from min- <br /> utes of January 17th and January 24th, regarding his attitude toward the Widow's Club. <br /> Mrs. V. Tepfer, 629 Arlington Road, Redwood City, appeared for the Club, requesting that <br /> the Council seriously consider the piece of land on Main Street between Elm and Beech, <br /> for the site to build a clubhouse for the use of the Widow's Club and also for the use <br /> of the City if they so desire. Councilman Royer requested that the report from the Park <br /> and Recreation Commission be read. City Clerk read letter from Park and Recreation Com- <br /> mission which referred the matter to the , Council stating that the title to the land in <br /> question is not clear. Councilman Stout moved that the matter be referred to the City <br /> Attorney for report and recommendation to the Council, seconded by Councilman Spillers <br /> who suggested an addition to the motion that if.all is legally in order, it be referred <br /> to the Park and Recreation Commission to be sure that the land is not needed for park <br /> purposes. Letter from City Engineer's office <br /> read, in which he recommended that they be authorized to have plans and specifications <br /> prepared, and an assessment district established for the improvements consisting of <br /> installation of sanitary sewer mains, water mains, fire hydrants, etc., in the area <br /> West and North of Jefferson Avenue, known as Highlands Territory No. 1. Councilman <br /> Spillers moved acceptance of the City Engineer's recommendation, seconded by Councilman <br /> Royer and carried. Engineer Jain advised the Council that a rough check had been made, <br /> and the project represents a *200,000.00 job, consisting of 17,000 feet of sewer and <br /> 11,000 feet of water main. Mr. Jain will try to get the job done this summer. <br /> CARL ROSENE REQUEST FOR 90 DAY EXTENSION OF SIDEWALK NOTICE. Letter from Mr. Rosene read, <br /> in which he requests extension due to the fact that the Planning Commission is now hold - <br /> ing public hearings on the rezoning of this property, and that the planned widening <br /> of Jefferson Avenue in all probability would cause this sidewalk to be torn up if it is <br /> built in continuity with the existing sidewalk. Councilman Spillers moved that extension <br /> be granted, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried.
