7 - . • <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> April 18, 1955, 8 :00 P.M. <br /> ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilmen Carl A. Britschgi, Robert V. Spillers, Wm. <br /> H. Royer, Hiram S. Stout, Paul Jones, Floyd D. Granger, and Mayor Sidney D. Herkner. Also <br /> present were Orrin Wendling, Administrative Assistant, City Clerk R. S. Dodge, City Col - <br /> lector Paul Perrin, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, City Manager E. A. Rolison, Assistant <br /> Building Inspector Charlie Gyselbrecht, Police Captain Wm. Faulstich, City Attorney C. B. <br /> Currie, Fire Chief Joe Lodi, Street Foreman Doyle Chester and Planning Commissioner Leonard <br /> Joesten. <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF APRIL 4, 1955 AND REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING OF APRIL 11, 1955 <br /> WERE APPROVED AS MAILED, subject to correction indicating the second to Motion introducing <br /> Ordinance rezoning Claremont Avenue Area, on motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Coun- <br /> cilman Spillers and carried. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING - OAK AVENUE IMPROVEMENT HAWES TO GORDON. Affidavits of publication and posting <br /> were ordered filed by the Mayor. As there were no protests, written or oral, Councilman <br /> Britschgi moved public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. City <br /> Attorney advised the Council that a Resolution of public convenience and necessity was in <br /> order, ^Councilman Spillers offered RESOLUTION 1857 and moved adoption, seconded by Council- <br /> ' man Britschgi and carried on roll call. Councilman Britschgi offered RESOLUTION 1858 approv <br /> ing plans for the project as prepared by the City Engineer and moved adoption, seconded by <br /> Councilman Spillers and carried on roll call. Councilman Granger offered RESOLUTION of <br /> INTENTION 1859 to do the work as set forth in the plans and moved adoption, seconded by <br /> Councilman Stout and carried on roll call. Hearing was set for May 16, 1955. Councilman <br /> Jones offered RESOLUTION 1860 approving wage scales and moved adoption, seconded by Council- <br /> man Royer and carried on roll call. Councilman Spillers offered RESOLUTION 1861 ordering <br /> call for bids to be opened May 16th and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Jones and <br /> carried on roll call. <br /> ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE 796 ANNEXATION HIGHLANDS TERRITORY #3 (FARM HILLS). Affidavit of publi- <br /> cation was ordered filed by the Mayor. Letter from Mr. Louis Weiss protesting the an- <br /> nexation stating that it will cause higher taxes; would not be to the best interests; <br /> would necessitate additional capital expenditures and in other ways prove to be a burden <br /> rather than an asset. There being no oral protests, Councilman Spillers moved that public <br /> hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. Councilman Spillers moved <br /> adoption of ORDINANCE ?96, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Councilman Granger stated he <br /> voted for the annexation based upon information from City Engineer and City Manager. After <br /> II discussion regarding cost of annexation and the thought that a policy should be adopted for <br /> future annexations, motion carried on roll call. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING - ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE 797 REGULATING CALL FOR BIDS, PURCHASES IN EXCESS OF <br /> $2,000.00. Affidavit of publication was ordered filed. There being no protests, oral or <br /> written, Councilman Royer moved public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Spillers <br /> and carried. Councilman Jones advised the public that this ordinance is to clarify the re- <br /> cent change in the Charter. Councilman Royer, moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Jones <br /> and carried on roll call. <br />
