COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI SUGGESTED THAT THE CITY MANAGER CONTACT SAN FRANCISCO WATER COMPANY RE- GARDING THE GROWTH OF WEEDS ON HETCH - HETCHY RIGHT OF WAY TO SEE WHETHER THEY OR THE CITY WOULD MAKE THE CLEAN -UP. COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI REQUESTED INFORMATION REGARDING THE AUTHORITY THE PORT HAS IN THE CONTROL OF LAND FOR THE USE OF YACHT HARBOR. City Attorney will look into this. COUNCILMAN ROYER MOVED THAT THE REDWOOD CITY SOFTBALL TEAM BE AUTHORIZED TO CHARGE 25¢ AT THE BALL PARK IN ACCORDANCE WITH REGULATIONS. This team is sponsored by the Redwood City Merchants. Motion seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. There will be about 33 games played this year. COUNCILMAN STOUT CALLED ATTENTION TO AN ARTICLE IN THE WESTERN CITY MAGAZINE REFERRING TO A CITY COUNCILMAN IN EL SEGUNDO WHO HAS A RECORD OF 27 YEARS SERVICE. He suggested that the City Manager prepare an article for the magazine covering the service of Mr. George McNulty who served on the Council for 32 years. CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE PRESENTED THE COUNCIL WITH AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 623 PLACING ALL PROPERTY IN R -4 DISTRICT WITHIN FIRE ZONE #2. Councilman Spillers moved introduc- tion of Ordinance, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried on roll call. COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI COMMENDED THE CORPORATION YARD EMPLOYEES FOR THE GRAND WORK DONE IN CLEAN- ING UP AT THE YACHT HARBOR PRIOR TO THE RECENT BOAT RACE and offered Resolution for adop- tion commending them on the work done, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on roll call. Mayor Herkner suggested that City Manager take further steps by having old buildings and lumber moved to another location. MR. LISLE WINTER INTRODUCED THE NEW ASSISTANT WATER SUPERINTENDENT WARREN MITCHELL who was welcomed into the City Family by Mayor Herkner. COUNCILMAN JONES REMINDED THE COUNCIL THAT THE PROPOSED SALES TAX LAWS WILL BE COMING UP FOR COMMITTEE HEARINGS IN JiE STATE LEGISLATURE ON THE 14th and 15th of APRIL. Council agreed that the Peninsula League of California Cities are represented in Sacramento, and will look after the interests of our city. Councilman Jones moved that the League be informed of the Council's desires regarding this matter. Motion lost for lack of a second. Councilman Britschgi offered Resolution reaffirming the position taken at the recent League convention and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried on roll call, Councilman Granger voting NO.
