r:. k <br /> quicksilver is extracted, is within forty (40') feet of the boundary line of Stulsaft Park. <br /> The geologists are of the opinion that the deposit runs through the park and they wish per- <br /> mission from the Council to enter the park from an experimental standpoint to explore the <br /> area. Mayor Herkner presented a letter which he received from the Western Slope Land Co. <br /> indicating their request for permission to enter the park. Councilman Stout moved that a <br /> II committee be appointed to work with the company and advise the Council of its findings and <br /> permit the geologists to make studies, seconded by Councilman Jones. Mrs. Vera Eskin was <br /> informed that the City had the mineral rights in Stulsaft Park. Councilman Granger sug- <br /> gested that the original motion be changed to the effect that the committee be authorized <br /> II to proceed if arangements appear to be satisfactory. Maker and second of motion agreed to <br /> change the motion which carried. Mayor Herkner appointed committee of Councilmen Granger, <br /> Britschgi and Spillers. <br /> LETTER FROM WESTERN SLOPE LAND COMPANY RE: THE SITE OF 12 MILLION GALLON RESERVOIR SETTING FORTH <br /> REASONS WHY #2 SITE SHOULD BE CHOSEN. It is their contention that this site will reflect <br /> a savings of $100,000.00 to the City in the overall acquisition of the reservoir. This <br /> subject to be taken up later in the meeting. <br /> PERSONAL APPEARANCE. REDWOOD DINER, 727 EL CAMINO REAL, OPERATING ON REVOCABLE PERMIT. DESIRES <br /> TO TRANSFER BUSINESS BY SALE. COUNCIL APPROVAL. Mr. S. Pagallano is in the process of <br /> purchasing this business and desires to obtain a permanent permit. After much discussion <br /> regarding the desirability of the diner, and reasons for the temporary permit and report <br /> from Fire Chief Lodi stating that the building does not comply with regulations, Mr. Pagal- <br /> lono withdrew his request. <br /> REPORT ON BID OPENING, AUTOMOBILE FOR CITY MANAGER. Letter from City Manager's office revealing <br /> the following bids was read: <br /> Base Price Trade -in Net Cost <br /> FERRIS MILES, INC. Dodge $ $420.00 $ <br /> HOYT - PONTIAC Pontiac $2,180.64 $200.00 $1,980.64 <br /> JAS. BELL CO. Mercury $2,679.11 $55 $2,122.28 <br /> City Manager Rolison recommended that the bid of Ferris Miles be accepted for the Auto. <br /> Councilman Spillers moved that the recommendation be approved, seconded by Councilman <br /> Stout and carried. City Manager called attention to base price of the Dodge Automobile <br /> which was approximately $200.00 greater than the Pontiac. The amount of trade -in decided <br /> the lower bid. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS. DR. WM. B. NEFF, C/O U. S. Army in Germany, request for extension on sidewalk <br /> notice, property at 886 Edgewood Road. Letter from Dr. Neff was received stating that he <br /> will be separated from the Army in June and requested extension until that time. Council- <br /> man Stout moved that the extension be granted to August 1st, seconded by Councilman Spil- <br /> lers. After some discussion, the motion with consent of Councilmen Stout and Spillers was <br /> changed to continue the matter to the first meeting in August, motion carried. <br /> II CLAIM ALLEGED DAMAGE TO AUTO IN COLLISION WITH PORT AUTO. Councilman Spillers moved that the <br /> claim be denied, and referred to the insurance carrier, seconded by Councilman Stout and <br /> carried. <br /> TO CONTINUE THE SUBJECT OF 12 MILLION GALLON RESERVOIR, Councilman Stout suggested that the <br /> letter from Western Slope Company regarding the cost of building of reservoir be made <br /> available to the Council Committee, City Engineer and City Manager for their study and <br /> recommendation. City Engineer stated they would need additional information before any <br />
