St�ategic Initiative: <br /> Public Safety <br /> Not only does the police department combat gang activity through <br /> proactive measures such as the Gang Task Force and the Street Strate�ic Goals <br /> Crimes Suppression Team, the department's juvenile specialist <br /> conducts Gang Prevention and Awareness Presentations to all middle <br /> and high school students, school administrators, and many parents. <br /> The Juvenile Specialist also coordinates the Gang Tattoo Removal Maintain and cnsurc <br /> Program which provides an opportunity for those who have removed public safct`� <br /> themselves from gangs to also permanently remove the tattoos that <br /> were a part of their past life, in exchange for community service. School <br /> resource officers are regularly on campus at middle schools teaching <br /> gang awareness classes and attending school meetings. They also <br /> make home visits to chronically absent students. By reducing truancy, <br /> the police department is helping to reduce the number of kids drawn <br /> into gangs or other delinquent activity. <br /> Sustain disastcr <br /> prcparcdncss,including <br /> thc Port <br /> Lookinq to the future <br /> Fire, Police, and Building, Infrastructure, and Transportation are <br /> committed to maintaining a safe and secure community by focusing on <br /> these goals and objectives. The departments will continue to operate <br /> under the existing limited resources to maintain and ensure the public Maintain gang <br /> safety. The departments will partner with local and regional entities to suppression cfforts <br /> ensure the City of Redwood City is prepared to respond in the event of <br /> a disaster.
