ATT 7,A. - Page 3 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> AUTHORIZING THE POLICE CHIEF TO EXPEND $100,000 <br /> OF COPS/SLESF FUNDS IN FISCAL YEAR 2010-2011 <br /> WHEREAS, the Redwood City Police Department has received a State <br /> Citizens Option for Public Safety/Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Funds <br /> (COPS/SLEF) grant in the amount of$100,000; and <br /> WHEREAS, grant funds must be used to supplement existing services <br /> and may not be used to supplant any existing funding for law enforcement <br /> services; and <br /> WHEREAS, Council finds that the proposed expenditures will be for <br /> supplemental police equipment as authorized by the grant, and will not <br /> supplant existing funding; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the Police Chief's recommendation to use COPS/SLEF <br /> grant funds for the purchase of police equipment, including security cameras for <br /> high-crime areas, night-vision surveillance equipment, audio surveillance and <br /> recording equipment, vehicle tracking equipment and police tactical equipment; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, on May 23, 2011, the City Council held a public hearing to <br /> consider the expenditure of COPS/SLEF grant funds in the amount of <br /> $100,000.00. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1. The Police Chief is authorized to expend $100,000.00 of <br /> COPS/SLEF funds for the purchase of police equipment, including security <br /> cameras for high-crime areas, night-vision surveillance equipment, audio <br /> surveillance and recording equipment, vehicle tracking equipment and police <br /> tactical eq u ipment. <br /> ATTY/RESO/RES0.2127 <br /> 050411 <br />
