Kennedy /Jenks Consultants
28 August 2003
Mr. Peter Ingram
Director
Public Works Services Department
City of Redwood City
1400 Broadway
Redwood City, CA 94063 -2505
Engineers & Scientists
622 Folsom Street
San Francisco, California 94107
415. 243.2150
FAX 415.898 -0999
Subject: New Task Order Request (Task Order No. 6)
Recycled Water Project — Community Task Force Support Services
K/J Proposal a03057
Dear Mr. Ingram:
During meetings at your office during August 2003, we discussed the status of work under Task Order
No. 4, additional services that have been recently provided, and additional services that will likely be
needed in the coming months to support the City's Community Task Force on Recycled Water.
All identified deliverables under Task Order No. 4 have been completed and we have been continuing to
provide as- needed support through August 2003, particularly in response to needs for public information
and education, City Council questions relative to the safety of recycled water, and the recent Addendum
to the City's Mitigated Negative Declaration.
This letter summarizes our discussions regarding the Community Task Force Support needs, and is a
request for a new task order (Task Order No. 6) from the City to cover proposed services from September
2003 through April 2004.
Additional Services Anticipated (October 2003 —April 2004)
The City Council has approved the formation of a Community Task Force on Recycled Water that has
been chartered with the following purposes:
1. To find 2,000 acre feet per year of recycle water and/or additional conservation of water (beyond that
which has been identified) by 2010, in a financially feasible manner by identifying alternative sites to
schools and playgrounds.
2. To find alternative phasing which is financially feasible to allow the Council to postpone or avoid
using recycled water at schools and playgrounds.
The duration of the Task Force work has been estimated to be 6 months (26 weeks). The following work
activities are intended to support the City and the Task Force on an "as- requested" basis throughout the
Task Force work (anticipated to be from October 2003 through April 2004). Monthly billings will be on
a reimbursable basis for actual hours and direct costs expended on Task Force Support activities.
