*A'
Staff recommends that the Council approve the broadly- defined project, but prior to
Implementing this project, the Council should facilitate the formation of a Redwood City
task force, comprised of residents and businesses, for the purpose of exploring other,
financially feasible approaches that may be able to deliver recycled water to different types
of sites in diffemnt phases than previously envisioned. Staff looks forward to Council
discussion of, and direction on, a public process that would respect citizen's concerns and
explore different ways to reach potential recycled water users while maintaining financial
feasibility, while meeting the project goal by 2010.
Alternatives
1. Approve the project and direct staff to return with implementing actions that would
realize Altemative E as it is currently described in attachments 4 and 5.
2. Do not approve the project and provide alternative direction to staff.
Fiscal Impact
The revenues to pay for any water recycling project implemented within the umbrella of the
Mitigated Negative Declaration will come from water rates, connection fees, and grants.
The precise amounts will be determined later, as the City Council makes final decisions on
how the project will be implemented.
Peter Ingram ` Everett
Director, Public orks Services Ctty Manager
Attachments
1.
