7.3 <br /> <br />7.4 <br /> <br />Effective with the first pay period beginning on or after September 1, <br />1999, salaries shall be increased by the formula used as stated above. <br /> <br />Effective with the first pay period beginning on or after September 1, <br />2000, salaries shall be increased by the formula used as stated above <br />minus .55%. <br /> <br />7.2.3 <br /> <br />An employee may be eligible for a salary adjustment to the next higher <br />step above the initial step or rate to which appointment was made upon the <br />satisfactory completion of six (6) consecutive months' employment. An <br />adjustment shall be made only upon the recommendation of the <br />department head and upon approval of the City Manager. <br /> <br />7.2.4 <br /> <br />Progression of employees from the second step to the third step of the <br />salary plan may be made upon completion of a minimum period of one (1) <br />year at the second step and upon consideration of such employee's <br />performance of duties, experience, education, personal fitness for the <br />position, and other criteria reasonably related to awarding increased <br />compensation on the basis of merit. An adjustment shall be made only <br />upon the recommendation of the department head and upon approval of <br />the City Manager. <br /> <br />7.2.5 <br /> <br />Progression of an employee from the third step to the fourth step and the <br />fourth step to the fifth step of the salary plan will be based upon the <br />completion of the period of one (1) year's service at the respective lower <br />step. <br /> <br />Salary Increase on Promotion <br /> <br />Promotional appointments shall be made at the salary step in the new salary range <br />which results in a one-step increase in salary. In the event the promotional <br />appointment is made at the second or higher step, the promoted employee shall be <br />eligible for a salary increase in six (6) months following the promotional <br />appointment. <br /> <br />Overtime <br /> <br />7.4.1 Forty (40) Hour Workweek Emnlovees <br /> <br />Overtime for anit members in the Police Department is the authorized time <br />worked beyond the forty (40) hour workweek. Payment for overtime will <br />not be made unless such overtime has been authorized in writing by the <br />Police Chief or designated representative prior to such overtime being <br />worked. Overtime shall be compensated atone one-half(I-I/2)times <br />the employee's rate of pay. <br /> <br /> <br />
