7.11 Bilingual Pay <br /> <br />The City shall pay a differential of 2.5% of base pay to employees who are <br />proficient in Spanish and who have successfully passed a proficiency <br />examination. To retain the 2.5% differential, employees will be required to pass <br />an annual recertification proficiency examination. <br /> <br />7.12 TemnorarvU~rade Pay <br /> <br />An employee temporarily assigned to Police Captain shall have his/her base salary <br />increased by 5% per month. All incentives will be maintained and the employee <br />will be provided a City vehicle. <br /> <br />If the assignment is scheduled to be longer than two weeks in duration, out of <br />class pay will commence on the first day of out of class performance. Persons <br />working out of class are expected to work a 5/8 schedule and perform all duties <br />commensurate with the out &class position they are assigned to. <br /> <br />7.13 Educational and Specialized Trainine Expense Reimbursement <br /> <br />7.14 <br /> <br />Employees shall be eligible for reimbursement of costs of tuition, registration <br />fees, books and supplies and other educational expenses incurred in connection <br />with enrollment in and successful completion of courses of instruction related to <br />the employee's position with the City or a higher position with the City. <br /> <br />Employees shall be eligible to receive reimbursement not to exceed $200.00 per <br />fiscal year, provided that the courses of instruction are approved in advance of <br />enrollment by the employee's department head and by the Human Resources <br />Director, and the employee successfully completes such course submitted for <br />reimbursement with a grade of"C" or better. The Educational Expense <br />Reimbursement Program may be used for professional development workshops or <br />seminars, and for the purchase of reference materials listed in the core reference <br />material appendix to this MOU. <br /> <br />Vacations <br /> <br />7.14.1 Only regular full-time employees who have worked for the City more than <br /> twelve (12) months shall be entitled to take vacation leave. <br /> <br />The times during the calendar year at which an employee shall take <br />vacation shall be determined by the Police Chief or designated <br />representative with due regard to the wishes of the employee and <br />particular regard to the need of the service. All employees shall, on a form <br />provided by the City, indicate their preference for vacation periods during <br />November and December of each calendar year.
