He recognized the Council for its <br /> work on the reconstruction of Bair Island and said that the construction of this <br /> pedestrian bridge will help. <br /> Mike Giari, Redwood City Port Director, on behalf of the Port Commission, recognized <br /> various groups involved in and in favor of the Bair Island Pedestrian Access Bridge <br /> (item 6.1 D on the Consent Calendar). He believes this is a major milestone. <br /> A Council Member asked that the issue of the underground economy be brought up at <br /> an upcoming Mayor/Vice Mayor meeting for further discussion and recognizing those <br /> who do follow the law. City Manager Bell acknowledged that request. <br /> M/S Foust/Seybert to approve the Consent Calendar as presented. <br /> Council Member Foust thanked Mr. Giari and Mr. Knight for their words and expressed <br /> excitement about the (Bair Island Pedestrian Bridge) project. She also recognized <br /> Council Member Pierce for showing great determination in pushing this forward. <br /> Council Member Pierce said that it gives her great pride in realizing that numerous <br /> partnerships enabled this to come to fruition.
