6.1.A. - Page 28 <br /> Emergency Services Council meeting and that June11 will be emergency preparedness <br /> day, this will be in conjunction with the San Mateo County Fair. He spoke about the <br /> tragedy in Japan and the lessons that were learned from that and the communications <br /> process and how the Progress Seminar addressed this. He explained how certain <br /> social media in certain languages was kept out of the loop. He also commented on the <br /> budget for the Emergency Services and how it was approved. <br /> -Council Member Foust spoke about the breakout sessions from the Progress Seminar <br /> and there is a follow up session on June 20 about social media and concrete actions in <br /> social media to deal with disasters. She also attended a breakfast at which Pat Brown <br /> was honored with the Neil Call award and she would like to bring her to a Council <br /> Meeting. Council Member Foust also noted that a Save Caltrain meeting was held last <br /> Wednesday at the Chambers and she provided the introduction and the focus on ways <br /> to find long term funding solutions. She will be active on the subcommittee of the San <br /> Francisco Bay Area Conservation Council to find funds for the restoration of lands <br /> around the San Francisco bay. <br /> -Council Member Pierce represented the City at the ABAG session and she attended <br /> workshops and a focus group. She invited everybody to be part of the Redwood Creek <br /> clean up coming up She gave kudos to Dan Zack for his presentation to 19 cities in <br /> San Mateo County about Cities Managing Change. <br /> -Council Member Gee said that he serves on the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief <br /> Alliance noting that Silversprings network is the most recent employer jumping on the <br /> program and offering this up for its employees. <br /> Mayor Ira noted that the San Mateo County initial vision scenarios meeting will be this <br /> Wed nesd ay. <br /> B. City Manager (Oral) Update <br /> Mr. Bell noted that this agenda packet was the first paperless packet whereby all staff <br /> reports were created, processed and approved electronically. He complimented the City <br /> Clerk's Office for this initiative. He also announced that Fire Chief Skinner was at the <br /> San Carlos Council meeting to get a decision from them on the Shared Services <br /> agreement. To the best of his knowledge they were still meeting. <br /> 9.
