Mike Saberstein agreed with the last few speakers and expressed concern with
his real estate resale value and his wife's health.
- Henry Tu, husband of Christina Lai, stated that information is found by searching
and asking experts. He stated that the audience has found that information has
been sought and found and that there was such a high turnout. He stated that
after three hours of testimony, there are still people that are still not convinced.
Council Member Jordan passed out an article about Senator Barbara Boxer and
her proposal for funding of unopposed projects that might add 600,000 acre feet
yearly to the state. Senator Boxer's goal is to identify projects already in the
planning stages with strong local support and no opposition. Council Member
Jordan expressed her concern that the City could be damaging the ability to obtain
some of those funds by embarking on a project with vociferous objections from the
community. She further stated she would rather see Redwood Shores' residents
forced by law to do certain things such as making drought resistant landscape
changes, using soaker irrigation, etc. than forcing people to use recycled water
where their children are playing. She further stated she would like to see the
recycled water project started in universally accepted areas.
M/S Jordan /Howard to extend the meeting to 2:15 a.m. The motion passed by a
unanimous voice vote.
M/S Jordan /Hartnett to:
_ 1. He stated he would like to go forward with the project, have PWS
Director Ingram get the residents involved, but has no desire to force it on a
community that is opposed to it.
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING JULY 28, 2003
MINUTES PAGE 19
MINUTES Book No. 60
Page No. 19
