A. Damage to existing structures, facilities, utilities, trees, pavements, or other <br /> property caused by the Contractor shall be restored to original condition at the <br /> Contractor's expense, prior to final inspection and acceptance. <br /> VII. GENERAL TRAFFIC CONTROL, SAFETY, & ACCESS <br /> A. The contractor shall keep the sidewalk open at all times. If a sidewalk closure is <br /> necessary, contractor shall first obtain permission from the City Engineer and <br /> then shall make provisions for an alternate pedestrian access. <br /> B. At no time shall pedestrians be diverted onto a portion of the street used for <br /> vehicular traffic. At locations where safe alternate passageways cannot be <br /> provided, appropriate signs and barricades shall be installed at the limit of <br /> construction and in advance of the limits of construction at the nearest crosswalk <br /> or intersection to detour pedestrians. <br /> C. The contractor agrees to assume sole and complete responsibility for job site <br /> conditions during the course of construction of this project, including safety of all <br /> persons and property. <br /> D. Access to businesses shall be provided at all times. <br /> VIII. DAMAGES FOR DELAYS <br /> A. Liquidated damages, for the period of time that any portion of the work remains <br /> unfinished after the time fixed for completion in the Contract Documents, as <br /> modified by extensions of time granted by the Owner, it is understood as agreed <br /> by the Contractor and the Owner that the contractor shall pay the Owner Five <br /> Hundred and No /100 Dollars ($500.00) per day liquidated damages. <br /> IX. WORK COVERED UNDER THIS CONTRACT <br /> A. Notification of area businesses 14 days prior to construction <br /> B. Traffic control <br /> C. Removal of wheel stops, concrete vertical curb, signs, and grinding of existing <br /> pavement markings <br /> D. Removal of the parking payment machine. This item shall be returned to the <br /> Public Works Services Department, located at 1400 Broadway. <br /> E. Installation of concrete pavers (sidewalk), concrete vertical curb, and trench drain <br /> to match existing <br /> F. Installation of new brick planters, concrete footing, and fencing to match existing <br /> G. Installation of tree wells, street trees, and bike rack <br /> H. Installation of new pavement markings <br />
