City Council Members Reports of Conferences /Meetings Attended <br />- Council Member Foust said she will resurrect the Charter Ad Hoc committee. <br />- Council Member Pierce thanked Interim Human Resources Director, Gary Rogers, and <br />City Manager Bob Bell for adding language to the job description that was approved <br />tonight on the Consent Calendar. Council Member Pierce announced an upcoming <br />event to support music in schools and all are invited to support this cause. This Council <br />Member also thanked Council Members Foust and Bain for being judges in the Pet <br />Parade. <br />-Mayor Ira noted that the County is trying to eliminate the use of Styrofoam in certain <br />businesses and he would like to have the City Manager and City Attorney handle this. <br />Council agreed with pursuing this cause. <br />- Council Member Foust announced that on Wednesday June 1, 2011 there will be a <br />video "So Right, So Smart" on the issue of the sustainability of corporations and social <br />responsibility through Foster City TV. She also mentioned the young dreamer's event <br />at Fox Theater and how it addresses some really important social issues. She <br />congratulated the Sequoia Hospital for opening its Breast and Women's Health Center <br />unit and this is a great resource. <br />- Council Member Bain announced the upcoming Memorial Day event at the Union <br />Cemetery on Monday May 30 <br />B. City Manager (Oral) Update <br />Dr. Bell announced that the City has received concessions from all unions except SEIU <br />(Service Employees International Union). He noted that the Parks, Recreation and <br />Community Services Commission will be receiving input on the proposed dog park. He <br />reported that the Pet Parade last Saturday was a huge success. He reminded the <br />community that kids can sign up for the summer reading program. <br />10. ADJOURN- M/S Foust /Gee to adjourn at 10:20 p.m. in memory of Mike Harris and <br />Omar Ahmad, former Mayor of San Carlos. Vice Mayor Aguirre noted that the State <br />Legislature adjourned in his memory.
