6.1.13. - Page 42 <br />TENTATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION (SEIU) LOCAL 521 <br />time emplovees. <br />420.1.2 Sick leave shall be defined as the non -job related absence from work due <br />to illness, bodily injury, exposure to contagious disease, and caring of family <br />members whose illness requires the worker's care. For the purpose of this <br />20.1.3WRwsed aSick leave may be assurnulated accrued to a maximum sick leave <br />eredlts-of Nine Hundred and Sixty (960) hours. Accrual of sick leave shall cease <br />when the maximum accrual level has been reached. <br />20.1.4 In the event a worker has aesumulated accrued the maximum sick leave eredlts <br />of Nine Hundred and Sixty (960) hours, and the worker becomes so severely ill <br />that he /she exhausts his /her sick leave, the Human Resources Director may, <br />upon written recommendation of to the worker's Department Head, authorize <br />additional sick leave to include any sick leave in excess of the Nine Hundred and <br />Sixty (960) hours maximum which may have been lost due to the maximum <br />limitation; provided, however, that sick leave id not <br />accrue for a period of six (6) months or longer. <br />20.5 Raternal Leave of Absence Without Pay <br />20.5.1 <br />with parental leave. <br />20.5.2 A n4al�a�worker shall be granted a leave of absence without pay to fulfill <br />parenting responsibilities for up to one (1) year following the child's birth or one <br />(1) year following the filing of application for adoption and actual arrival of a child <br />in the home, subiect to the approval of the D epartment Head and the Human <br />Resources Director <br />20.5.23 The worker on leave shall be returned to his /her original position or if that <br />position is not in existence, to an equivalent position within his/her classification. <br />20.5.34 While on parental leave, a worker must exhaust his or her accrued leave, <br />remainder of A the parental leave, abseRt physiGal disability, is granted without <br />pay foF the duFati@A of leave.
