The existing signage at the County <br /> Center will be expanded to guide visitors to the free parking and the pedestrian <br /> onto the street as well as to the County Center complex. <br /> Cost estimates for the design have been developed as well as structural engineering <br /> evaluations. Upon approval of the design concept by the Council, staff will proceed with <br /> the execution of contracts for construction drawings and other services needed to prepare <br /> bid packages. The lantern features will require a design-build contract with the artist. <br /> Alternatives <br /> None. As noted, the Council reviewed the original design concept on September 26,2005 <br /> and requested simplification of the design. This report responds to that input and requests <br /> approval of the modified design concept in order to move the project forward and into the <br /> design development phase and preparation of the necessary construction drawings and <br /> bid documents. <br /> Fiscal Impact <br /> This project is part of the Redevelopment Downtown Funding Plan and has an available <br /> balance of $339,000.
