5 ��q_ <br /> � <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 41 OF THE REDWOOD CITY <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT <br /> THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS <br /> FOLLOWS: <br /> SECTION 1. Chapter 41 (Floodplain Management) of the Redwood City <br /> Municipal Code is hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows: <br /> "CHAPTER 41 <br /> FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT <br /> Art. I. IN GENERAL <br /> Art. II. DEFINITIONS <br /> Art. III. GENERAL PROVISIONS <br /> Art. IV. ADMINISTRATION <br /> Art. V. PROVISIONS FOR FLOOD HAZARD REDUCTION <br /> Art. VI. VARIANCE PROCEDURE <br /> ARTICLE I. IN GENERAL <br /> Sec. 41.1.1. TITLE: This Chapter shall be known as the "Floodplain <br /> Management Ordinance of the City of Redwood City." <br /> Sec. 41.1.2. STATUTORY AUTHORIZATION: The Legislature of the <br /> State of California has in Government Code Sections 65302, 65560 and 65800 <br /> conferred upon local government authority to adopt regulations designed to promote the <br /> public health, safety and general welfare of its citizenry. Therefore, the City Council of <br /> the City of Redwood City does hereby adopt the following floodplain management <br /> ordinance. <br /> Sec. 41.1.3. FINDINGS OF FACT: <br /> A. The flood hazard areas of Redwood City are subject to periodic inundation <br /> which results in the loss of life and property, health and safety hazards, <br /> disruption of commerce and governmental services, extraordinary public <br /> expenditures for flood protection and relief and impairment of the tax base, <br /> all of which adversely affect the public health, safety and general welfare. <br /> B.
