EA 10918-0: The Nicholson Company; Location-800 Chestnut St;eet; having <br /> 11.8 acres, bounded by Bay Road, Spring Street, Woodside Road aLd Chestnut <br /> ~+reet; APN 054-062-(010, 080, 090) "IR" (Industrial-Restricted) Dist;ict. <br /> General review of Draft EIR prepared by Woodward Clyde Consultants (Fehr <br /> and Peers Traffic Engineers) to build a 240,000 square foot office Research and <br /> Development Facility on 11.8 acres. <br /> Information Item Only: <br /> Mr. Bonte briefly described the project and the major issues that were covered in <br /> the Draft Environmental Impact Report which included 11 separate categories <br /> including Transportation/Circulation, Air Quality, Land Use and Zoning, Visual <br /> Resources, Socio-economic and Public Services, Biological Resources, Geology <br /> and Soiis, Watec Resources, Noise, Hazardous Materials, and Cultural <br /> Resources. The Commission should réview the <br /> contents of the DEIR and be prepared to make comments prior to the July 1 <br /> pubiic hearing. Comments should be in writing. <br /> Mr. Michael Newbro, representing the Nicholson Company said he was eager to <br /> get comments as early as possible and that he was working with neighbors. In <br /> response to question from Commissioner McCoy, Mr. Newbro said the office <br /> building at Chestnut Street and Bay Road would remain although the developer <br /> has approached that building's owner regarding possible purchase of the <br /> property. <br /> REVIEW OF CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS <br /> Mr. Church summarized the June 2 meeting, describing the issue of traffic safety, <br /> access and egress and parking at a residential day care facility on Canyon Road. <br /> This day care center will be working with the Arbitration Board and will return to City <br /> Council. <br /> Mr. Passanisi summarized the Appeal of a Use Permit for off-street parking for a <br /> church on Iris Street which was upheld by the Council. <br /> MA TTERS OF COMMISSION INTEREST <br /> Kaiser project update. Mr. Church summarized the current situation regarding the <br /> hospital improvements. <br /> COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Mr. Passanisi said that a Subdivision Committee meeting would be held in the <br /> near future.
