A,-3 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> '-- <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> "' APPROVING THE DRAFT TRANSPORTATION EXPENDITURE PLAN FOR <br /> THE-EXTENSION OF MEASURE A <br /> - ~- <br /> WHEREAS, on June 7, 1988. the voters of San Mateo County approved a ballot <br /> measure known as "Measure A," which increased the local sales tax in San Mateo County by a <br /> 1/2 percent with the tax revenues to be used for highway and transit improvements pursuant to <br /> the Transportation Expenditure Plan that included a provision for the creation of the San Mateo <br /> County Transportation Authority; and <br /> WHEREAS, in order to extend the local sales tax income, Califomia Public Utilities Code <br /> Section 131000 et seq. requires the San Mateo County Transportation Authority to prepare a <br /> new Transportation Expenditure Plan at least one year prior to 2008, hold a public hearing on <br /> the Draft Transportation Expenditure Plan (the "Draft Plan") and then submit the Draft Plan to <br /> ,~ the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) for review and approval; and <br /> WHEREAS, upon approval by MTC, the Draft Plan must be submitted to the Cities and <br /> County of San Mateo for approval by a majority of the Board of Supervisors and by a majority <br /> vote of the respective City Councils of the majority of the Cities representing a majority of the <br /> population in the incorporated areas of the County prior to being ultimately submitted for voter <br /> approval at the next general election (November 2004); and <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with the statutory requirements, the San Mateo County <br /> Transportation Authority prepared the Draft Plan, reflecting a year long process that sought <br /> input from the public, elected officials and technical committees, that was presented at a public <br /> hearing on February 28, 2004; and <br /> WHEREAS, the recommended Draft Plan, dated March 1~2004, a copy of which is on <br /> file in the office of the City Clerk, provides for a balanced program of transportation projects and <br /> - <br /> Atty/Reso/Reso.1461 <br /> 042904/DBB/cls 1 <br />
