J. R. Construction, Inc. , <br /> of San Mateo, CA, for the amount of $569,652.00 and reject all other bids. <br /> Background <br /> On April 2, 2004 staff mailed out the contract documents and specifications to seven <br /> bidders and advertised the subject contract. The proposed contract has been duly <br /> advertised and three sealed bids were received and opened at the Office of the City Clerk <br /> on May 5, 2004. <br /> BIDDER PRICE <br /> J. J. R. Construction, Inc., San Mateo, CA $569,652.00 <br /> J. W. Riley & Sons, Inc., Emeryville, CA $585,376.00 <br /> Sposeto Engineering, Inc., Union City, CA $630,289.00 <br /> Engineer's Estimate $600,751.00 <br /> Median $585,376.00 <br /> J. J. R. Construction is the lowest responsible bidder at 6.2% below the Engineer's . <br /> estimate. J. J. R. Construction has previously been the successful low bidder on Tree <br /> Preservation and Sidewalk Repair contracts. They performed the work to the satisfaction <br /> of staff and the property owners. <br /> The project focuses on damaged sidewalk, sidewalk through driveway, driveway <br /> approaches, curb and gutter at all locations meeting a one-inch defect or greater, and � <br /> constructs wheel chair ramps at all corners in the project area. The work wili be performed <br /> in the remaining sites in reporting area 22 on Sussex Way and Bristol Way. Work will also <br /> be perFormed at sites in reporting area 23 on Kentucky Street, Delaware Avenue Idaho <br /> Court, Carolina Avenue, Woodside Road,, Ohio Street, Maryland Avenue, and Alameda de <br /> la Pulgas. <br /> Tree work for the project will be coordinated and performed by the City's tree maintenance <br /> staff or contractor. Root pruning or tree removal decisions are determined on a case by <br /> case basis, with the first priority being to preserve trees. <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br />
