Background The Redwood City Downtown Business Group (RCBG) has requested permission to conduct their second annual Fourth of July Car Show beginning at 8 a.m. Sunday, July 4, 2004, in the 2600 block of the Broadway within the Downtown Mall area of Redwood City between EI Camino Real and the Southern Pacific rail crossing along Arguello Street. On July 4th, the Car Show area will be reserved from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Car Show will be conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 4th in the areas detailed on the attached map provided by the RCBG in their letter dated May 13, 2004. Minor alterations to the Car Show area may be required by roadwork related to the downtown theater project. In this event, any change to Car Show area locations will be determined under the supervision and approval of the Police Chief or his designee. The letter permit contains standard "hold harmless" insurance and area control provisions. Alternatives 1. The City Council could choose not to authorize the execution of the letter permit. The selection of this alternative would end what is hoped by the RCBG to become an event that will be established as a long-standing tradition for Redwood City.
