RD- <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE REDWOOD CITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY <br /> AUTHORIZING, IF REQUIRED, MATCHING FUNDING OF UP TO <br /> $2,076,799 FOR A CALIFORNIA CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL <br /> ENDOWMENT GRANT FOR THE FACADE RESTORATION OF THE <br /> SAN MATEO COUNTY HISTORIC COURTHOUSE; AND TO APPOINT <br /> THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OR HIS DESIGNEE AS AGENT FOR THE <br /> AGENCY TO TAKE NECESSARY ACTION RELATED TO THE <br /> PROGRAMMING OF FUNDS AND PAYMENT REQUESTS IN <br /> CONFORMANCE WITH THIS RESOLUTION <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City ("Cit�') is submitting an application to the <br /> California Cultural and Historical Endowment (CCHE) Grant Program through the <br /> California Clean Water, Clean Air, Safe Neighborhood Parks, and Coastal Protection <br /> Act of 2002 (the "Act") to partially fund a$4.15 million restoration of the original classical <br /> facade of the 1910 Historic Courthouse (the "Project"); and <br /> WHEREAS, prior to the distribution of a CCHE grant, the CCHE requires the City <br /> to identify matching funds of $2,076,799 (the local match) prior to receiving the CCHE <br /> Grant; and <br /> WHEREAS, by Resolution, the City has requested that the Redwood City <br /> Redevelopment Agency ("Agency") contribute, if required, matching funds for the CCHE <br /> grant; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Agency is a public entity organized in accordance with the <br /> Community Redevelopment Law as contained in California Health and Safety Code <br /> sections 33000, et seq. and pursuant thereto, the Agency is authorized to undertake <br /> and support projects within designated areas of the City of Redwood City which foster <br /> the elimination of blighted conditions and encourage the economic well-being of such <br /> areas; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Project is within the boundaries of the Downtown <br /> Redevelopment Project Area (the "Project Area") and its development will contribute to <br /> the Agency's goals and objectives for the Project Area; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Project will be of benefit to the Project Area and the immediate <br /> neighborhood in which the Project is located by creating a public space for civic, cultural <br /> and community activities to compliment the wider redevelopment effort to create a <br /> livable, higher-density and pedestrian-friendly downtown for the City; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Project will restore the Courthouse to its original 1910 <br /> architecture which creates an environment reflecting a high level of concern for <br /> architecture, landscape, and urban design appropriate for the Project Area; and <br /> Atty/Reso/Reso.1493 Agency CCHE <br /> 101904 � <br /> . .. . ,. <br />
