<br /> 6.3A <br /> Page 1 <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Citx Manager <br /> August 28, 2006 <br /> Subject <br /> Sanitary Sewer Connection and Service - 1700 Fernside Street <br /> Recommendation <br /> Adopt a resolution approving and authorizing sanitary sewer connection and service for <br /> 1700 Femside Street (Town of Woodside), in accordance with Redwood City Code, <br /> Chapter 27, Sanitary Sewerage Facilities, Section 27.538 - Inter-area Connections, <br /> subject to the following conditions and fees: <br /> 1. Property owner pay the appUcation fee to LAFCo for the subject connection; <br /> 2. Property owners extend the sewer main in Fernside Street and make <br /> connection in accordance with City Standards, at their own expense; <br /> 3. Property owners pay a Wastewater Treatment Capacity Fee; <br /> 4. Property owners pay a Sewer System Capital Facilities Fee; <br /> 5. Property owners pay for all expenses related to processing this connection; <br /> 6. The Town of Woodside enter into an agreement with the City to operate and <br /> maintain the sewer line at their expense, <br /> and directing staff to submit an application to LAFCo for said extension. <br /> Background <br /> Pursuant to the Redwood City Municipal Code Section 27.53. staff is prohibited from <br /> authorizing any sewer connection to serve premises located outside of the City's limits. <br /> These connections are only authorized by Council after finding the existence of <br /> exceptional and extraordinary conditions affecting such premises. <br /> This property is located at 1700 Femside Street, and as such, is within the boundary of <br /> the Town of Woodside. The property is currently on a septic system, which is showing <br /> signs of failure. The San Mateo County Health Services Agency has detennined that <br /> this failure is a hazard to public health. and that the Town of Woodside has no <br /> collection system to serve the area. There is no other nearby public sewer system to <br /> connect the building. <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> - <br />
