Staff has worked <br /> closely with a task force of the Chamber of Commerce and an economic developmenf <br /> consultant to develop a new 5-year plan fo move forward. <br /> Working wifh the task #orce ancf cansultant, the process ta develop the Economic <br /> Development Element and tmplernentatian Pian recommendafians has taken about two <br /> years. (t has included the followirtg steps: <br /> • Deveiop the vision and poiicies contained in the Efement; <br /> • Conduct an assessment of the City's economic base aver the last 10 years; <br /> • Prepare an ana(ysis of the City's assets as they effect economic devetopment; <br /> � Assess the current business cfimate through focus groups with businesses and <br /> community groups, on-line surveys for businesses and residents, and individual <br /> interrriews with key stakeholders; <br /> � Compiie a!i of the analyses and input from surveys and interviews into an <br /> assessment report, and <br /> � Create an impiementation plan for the next five years that is in support of the visiar�, <br /> goals and policies. <br /> Att�,�hed, please find a draft of the Impiemen#�tion Pl�n� It c,cantains six ok�jective�that are <br /> in support of the goals and policies recommended in the Elemen#.
