5•1. E 2
year is satisfactory and meets the Department business needs, staff anticipates amending
this agreement for additional one year periods.
There are 31 sanitary sewer lift stations in the City's system housing approximately 68 ITT
Flygt Submersible pumps. The firm will conduct scheduled preventative maintenance (PM)
on all of the lift stations pumps within our system. The firm can provide up to five (5) PM
services a day. Further, the firm can repair pumps onsite at the lift station. For pumps
requiring shop maintenance and repair, they can provide temporary pump replacement
(rental) pending repair of the City's inoperable pump. This ensures that the sewer system
is continually situated for optimal performance.
Alternative
Council could direct staff to solicit individual price quotes on an as-needed basis.
However, this would place the City in a vulnerable position if one of these pumps fails.
Preventive Maintenance, repair and reconditioning of pumps are critical and delay due to
the time involved to solicit bids puts the sanitary sewer system at risk of failure.
Fiscal Impact
Funds for the reconditioning and / or repair of the utility pumps are contained in the
pending Public Works Services Department's Fiscal Year 2004 / 2005 operating budget
and augmented by funds available in the Sewer Fund Capital Projects under Pump &
Controls Reptace Program.
L.
^ /vL ,% 'sGt,s.
Marilyn VN: Harang Peter Ingram Ed Everett
Public Works Superintendent Drector, Public orks Services City Manager
Attachment
Agreement with ITT Industries
