<br />...:S:/G-/ <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />June 6, 2005 <br />. <br /> <br />Subject <br />Peninsula Celebration Association's 66th annual Fourth of July Celebration, 2005 <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />The City Council authorize execution of a letter permit for the Fourth of July Celebration sponsored by the <br />Peninsula Celebration Association. <br /> <br />Background <br />The Peninsula Celebration Association (PCA) has requested permission to conduct the annual Fourth of <br />July Celebration, The Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor their annual "Fun Run" along the <br />PCA parade route at 9:00 A.M. The traditional parade will begin at 10:00 A.M. The arts & crafts fair and <br />festival will be held in the downtown area of Redwood City from 9:00 A.M. through 5:00 P.M. A fireworks <br />display will be held at approximately 9:30 P.M. during the evening at the Port of Redwood City. <br /> <br />l July 4 th, the parade line-up area will be reserved from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and the parade route will <br />.j reserved from 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 P.M. The arts and crafts fair and festival will be reserved at 2:00 <br />P.M. on Sunday July 3rd through 8:00 P.M, on Monday July 4th. <br /> <br />The parade will be conducted in the areas detailed on the attached map provided by the PCA in their <br />letter dated May 9,2005. The fair and festival will be conducted along Bradford Street from Main Street <br />to Hamilton Street, Middlefield from Veterans Blvd to Marshall Street, Hamilton Street from Bradford to <br />Marshall Street, and Jefferson Avenue from Veterans Boulevard to Marshall Street. Minor alterations to <br />the parade route and festival area may be required along the established parade and festival area to <br />facilitate these events. In this event, any change to the parade route and festival area locations will be <br />determined under the supervision and approval of the Police Chief or his designee. <br /> <br />The fireworks display will be conducted at the Port of Redwood City, with street closures and vehicular <br />and vessel traffic control measures to be determined by the Police Department to regulate the orderly <br />flow of vehicle and boat traffic. <br /> <br />The City agrees to provide the following services and facilities: street sweepers, barricades, bleacher <br />delivery, installation of flags along the parade route, use of a 1-1/2 inch fire hydrant for an antique fire <br />truck demonstration, use of the parking structure on Marshall Street on JUly 4th, Media Parking lot on <br />Main Street, and use of the Hamilton Street parking lot along Winslow Street for handicap and vendor <br />parking, closure and parking restrictions as detailed in the PCA parade application and letter along <br />various city streets starting at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 3,2005 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, July 4th, 2005. <br /> <br />.; letter permit contains standard "hold harmless" insurance and course control provisions. <br />
