Kate Comforthark, Director of Rebuilding Together Peninsula, expressed their <br /> pleasure on the recommended funding. She spoke about their services in <br /> helping people be able to safely and independently stay in their homes as well as <br /> partnerships with others organizations that included Shelter Network and CORA. <br /> Oscar Dominguez, program director for Renaissance Mid - Peninsula, expressed <br /> their thanks for the recommended funding and that they are excited about <br /> economic development and being able to serve more people. He also shared <br /> some statistical information. <br /> M/S Gee /Seybert to close the Public Hearing. Motion carried 5 -0 by voice vote <br /> with two Council members absent. <br /> One Council Member invited those at home to make donations to these <br /> organizations and to other very worthwhile organizations that provide valuable <br /> services to the Redwood City community. Vice Mayor Aguirre noted how much <br /> these organization are able to accomplish with so little. She commented that <br /> such organizations always welcome volunteers and this is something to consider. <br /> Yet another Council Member added his appreciation for all the work the HHCC <br /> undertook and he appreciated the efficiencies that have been considered to <br /> streamline the process. Council Member Ira thanked the HHCC and staff and he <br /> found this process very easy because the recommendations were already made <br /> and he is thankful for all the work done in advance. <br /> M/S Foust/Seybert moved approval of all recommendations except for the Fair <br /> Housing Sentinel and Casa de Redwood City. Motion carried 5 -0 with two <br /> Council Members absent. <br /> M/S Seybert/Foust to approve the Fair Housing Sentinel recommendation. <br /> Motion carried 4 -1 -0 with Vice Mayor Aguirre abstaining and Council <br /> Members Bain and Pierce absent. <br /> M/S Gee /Aguirre to approve the recommendation for Casa de Redwood. Motion <br /> carried 4 -1 -0 with Council Member Foust abstaining and Council Members <br /> Bain and Pierce absent. <br /> 8. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. City Council Members Reports of Conferences /Meetings Attended <br /> Council Member Seybert announced the HEART Housing Luncheon on May 11, 2011 in <br /> San Francisco and he invited Council Members to attend. <br /> Mayor Ira announced that Council Member Pierce, Seybert and Aguirre participated in <br /> the Peninsula Division Bocce Ball tournament and it was the first time that the team <br /> from Los Gatos did not win the event.
