Kaia Eakin, spoke in favor of continuing the process, but also wanted to thank a Council <br /> Member for being a judge at the recent pet parade. She commented on the scoping <br /> sessions, requested more study sessions be televised and held within the Council <br /> Chambers, and she would like to see more dialogue. <br /> Victor Torreano, a resident, spoke in favor of moving forward with the process to <br /> approve and review this project. <br /> Veronica Eccamez, a resident, thanked Council for the review process and asked that it <br /> be continued as a way for the community to be informed and educated. <br /> Gail Raabe, a resident, had comments and questions pertaining to the CEQA (California <br /> Environmental Quality Act) timeline from August 2010. She asked about the various <br /> scoping alternatives, reports, and a workshop that were to be completed and why there <br /> has not been public explanation and discussion on what has happened with them. <br /> Gayle Suedanovic spoke in support of the previous speaker's comments and asked <br /> about the City's objectives. She is concerned about a lack of short and long -term fiscal <br /> impact analysis and how it will impact all stakeholders in the City, County, and state. <br /> She questioned whether the benefits outweigh the impacts, who will maintain various <br /> infrastructures, such as schools and transportation, once the developers leave and also <br /> in light of any earthquakes and flooding. <br /> Arnoldo Arreola, on behalf of Sustainable Redwood City, commented on recent polls <br /> and noted one poll which said 83 percent are in favor of being able to vote on this <br /> project, but that this cannot take place until this process is complete, and that is exactly <br /> what the Council is doing. He believes good decisions are made through thoughtful <br /> review. He said that returning the land to wetlands is a good goal but questioned who <br /> can afford it. <br /> Maribel Arreola, a resident for over 37 years, spoke in favor of continuing the process <br /> for the project. She spoke on the need for affordable housing, parks and recreation, <br /> and jobs. <br /> Patricia Lindo expressed her thanks for this process noting that this is taking a long time <br /> because it is being done right, safely and successfully. She spoke in favor of continuing <br /> review of all the details and opined that there are a lot of benefits associated with it for <br /> schools, housing, and restoration. <br /> Andrew Lomano spoke in favor of continuing the EIR process. He commented that he <br /> lives in San Mateo, along the Marina Lagoon, and that this is a vibrant community with a <br /> lot of wildlife and it is filled with people who are drawn to it. He opined that this project <br /> will bring economic benefits and can coexist with environmental objectives. <br /> Keith Bautista, a resident for over 45 years, commended Council for its courage to allow <br /> this applicant to move through normal review process the same as any other applicant. <br /> He commented on a previous successful project Pacific Shores Center.
