favor of allowing citizens to exercise their rights to be informed and for the process to <br /> continue. <br /> Corrin Trowbridge, a 15 -year resident, and a member of the Redwood City San Mateo <br /> County Chamber of Commerce, spoke in favor of process and the use of the EIR to <br /> flush out and address any issues and problems. He noted that information from recent <br /> polls can be skewed. <br /> Gita Dev, a resident of Woodside, commented that a lot of other communities are <br /> interested in this project because we share the hills and the bay. She expressed <br /> concern about the EIR process, including community dialogue, the scoping report, an <br /> open process for the alternatives, long -term fiscal analysis, and how it must this must be <br /> good for Redwood City. <br /> Foster Kinney, a resident, expressed concern about the bay and the City and he spoke <br /> in favor of the EIR process and he believes citizen input is sincerely requested and their <br /> input will result in changes to it. He said he looks forward to eventually voting on it, but <br /> that cannot happen until the review and amendments are all completed. <br /> Mayor Ira thanked Mr. Stephen Knight with Save the Bay for giving him and the Council <br /> Y P g Y 9 9 <br /> a heads u p prior to the recent press releases and poll results. <br /> Council took a break at 8:17 p.m. Council resumed at 8:30 p.m. <br /> Mr. Lyon addressed the timeline issue and said that staff found opportunities to expand <br /> in some areas and to combine in others. He confirmed there will be a fiscal impact <br /> analysis. <br /> Council Discussion: <br /> One Council Member asked if this was the first time a CEQA timeline has not been met <br /> and staff stated that this is not the first time. City Attorney Thompson interjected and <br /> clarified that the most important thing is a good and thorough process and not just a <br /> focus on the schedule per se. Another Council Member noted that Council was not <br /> about to short circuit the process at the expense of the schedule. Vice Mayor Aguirre <br /> reassured the public and the community that the goal is to study and not rush into <br /> decisions. One Council Member noted that some members of the Council may be <br /> information "junkies" and that Council is still in the process of obtaining all data and <br /> meaningful input which will be valuable later on.
