_ ' �������'�`�� <br /> SECOND AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br /> CITIES OF REDWOOD CITY AND SAN CARLOS <br /> FOR FIRE& EMERGENCY SERVICES <br /> This Second Amendment to Agreement between Cities of Redwood City and San Carlos <br /> for Fire and Emergency Services ("Second Amendment") dated for informational purposes as of <br /> I , 2012, by and between the City of Redwood City, a charter city and municipal <br /> corporation of the State of California ("Redwood City"), and the City of San Carlos, a municipal <br /> corporation ("San Carlos"), collectively "Participating Agencies." <br /> RECITALS <br /> WHEREAS, Redwood City and San Carlos entered into that certain Agreement between <br /> Cities of Redwood City and San Carlos for Fire and Emergency Services dated July 7, 2011 for <br /> the delivery of certain fire and emergency services ("Original Agreement"); and <br /> WHEREAS, the Original Agreement was modified by that certain First Amendment to <br /> Agreement between Cities of Redwood City and San Carlos for Fire and Emergency Services <br /> dated October 19, 2011 ("First Amendment") to revise Sections 2 and 5. The Original Agreement, <br /> as amended by the First Amendment, is hereinafter referred to as the "Agreement"; and <br /> WHEREAS, at the time the Participating Agencies entered into the Agreement, it was <br /> contemplated that San Carlos would maintain and staff its Fire Department while Redwood City <br /> would provide only management and administrative support; and <br /> WHEREAS, since San Carlos began to operate its own Fire Department it has required the <br /> use of Redwood City personnel to maintain adequate staffing at the San Carlos Fire Station 13 <br /> located at 525 Laurel Street and the San Carlos Fire Station 16 located at 1280 Alameda De Las <br /> Pulgas in order to provide fire protection activities, emergency medical services, and other related <br /> activities; and <br /> WHEREAS, it has become apparent to the Participating Agencies that San Carlos has a <br /> continuing need for additional support from Redwood City personnel to staff the San Carlos Fire <br /> Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Participating Agencies believe it is in the best interest of both <br /> Participating Agencies to provide cross-staffing of personnel in order to better fulfill the needs of <br /> each Participating Agency in a more flexible manner; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Participating Agencies seek to modify the Agreement to provide for <br /> Redwood City personnel to staff the San Carlos Fire Department and for San Carlos personnel to <br /> staff the Redwood City Fire Department pursuant to this Second Amendment; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Participating Agencies desire to amend the Agreement effective as of <br /> January 30, 2012 ("Amendment Commencement Date"), as more fully set forth herein. <br /> ATTY/AGR/2012/AMENDMENTS/AMEND NO.2 SAN CARLOS FIRE <br /> REV:09-06-12 VR <br /> Page 1 of 15 <br />
