4 ID -I <br />REPOR T <br />To the Flonor4 ble Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />September 22, 2003 <br />Subject <br />Final Acceptance — 2002 -2003 Sewer Main Replacement Project <br />Engineering File No. 806 -08 <br />Recommendation <br />Accept the 2002 -2003 Sewer Main Replacement Project, and authorize the release of <br />bonds and retention. <br />Background <br />Every year the City undertakes a sewer replacement program funded by the Capital <br />Improvement Program Sewer Fund. This program is designed for systematically <br />replacing sewer collection system main lines, which have a history of service <br />disruptions due to age, excessive maintenance requirements, and /or capacity <br />limitations. A priority list is reviewed and updated annually by the Community <br />Development Services Department - Engineering & Construction, to determine the <br />priority areas to be included in the program each year. This year's program includes <br />the relining of 6,300 linear feet of sewermain, and the rehabilitation of 32 manholes in <br />the following areas: <br />1. Harrison Street (6" sewermain from 7. <br />Clinton Street to El Camino Real) — <br />Trenchless Technology <br />2.
