4 1 N <br />Relining was chosen in- lieu -of open trench construction for the benefit of less disruption <br />to the public and roadway surfaces. This method of construction has also become <br />economically feasible. <br />On January 7, 2003, the City Council awarded the nonstruction contract for the 2002- <br />2003 Sewer Main Replacement Project to Gelco Services, Inc. of Salem, Oregon, for the <br />amount of $558,861.55. <br />The project was designed and inspected by Assistant Engineer, Grace Le, and Senior <br />Civil Engineer, Saber Sarwary, and was coordinated with staff in the Sewer Section of <br />the Public Works Services Department. <br />The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the plans and <br />specifications for a total cost of $516,828.55. Three Change Orders were issued for a <br />credit of $42,033.00. The credit was attributable to the removal of several sections of <br />pipes, which turned out to be in better shape than initial investigations showed during <br />design. <br />Alternative <br />Do not accept the 2002 -2003 Sewer Main Replacement Project, which will leave the <br />project unresolved and delay next year's Sewer Main Replacement Project. <br />Fiscal Impacts <br />The cost of this project has been deducted from the 2002 -2003 Capital Improvements <br />Program Budget, Sewer Improvement Fund. The credit of $42,033.00 will be returned to <br />the fund balance.
