American Red Cross Bay Area Statement of Understanding This agreement is made and entered into between the City Council of the City of Redwood City, California, hereinafter referred to as the City of Redwood City and the American Red Cross Bay Area, hereinafter referred to as Red Cross. The fellowing agreement, along with its supporting addendum, provides the framework for a collaborative effort between the Red Cro~ and the City of Redwood City to provide emergency shelter for disaster displaced members of our community. The parties hereto desire to reach an understanding, that will result in making the facilities and equipment of the City of Redwood City available to the Red Cross for the aforesaid use. Now, therefore, it is mutually agreed between parties as follows: 1. The City of Redwood City agrees that, after meeting its emergency responsibilities to its clients and staff, it will permit, to the extent of its ability and upon request by Red Cro~, use of predssignated facilities identified in addendum #1, as temporary mss care shelters for victims of disaster~ Red Cro~ and the City of Redwood City agree to cooperate in selecting of the facilities that ~ be listed in addendum #1. The City of Redwood City agrees to provide, and to periodically update, facility and point of eontact information to the Red Cro~. 2. The Red Cro~ agrees, when normal communications methods are possible, to follow the notification proeedurss outlined in addendum #2, when it needs to establish a shelter at one of the listed facilities. 3. The City of Redwood City agrees that prior to reicasing a facility for use as a Red Cross shelter, it dill to the extent reasonably possible, evaluate the facility and secure any valuable property not required for shelter operations. Red Cross agrees that it will exercise reasonable care in the conduct of its activities in such facilities and when provided with documented inventory and cost information, further agrees to replace or reimburse the City of Redwood City for any food, supplies or damage to the facility or equipment arising from the conduct of shelter activities. Upon tel'ruination of its use as a shelter, Red Cross agrees to leave the premises in their original condition. 4. Red Cross agrees to provide training to the appropriate members of the facility staff in Mass Care and Shelter Operations.
