American Red Cross Bay Area <br /> Statement of Understanding <br /> <br />This agreement is made and entered into between the City Council of the City of Redwood <br />City, California, hereinafter referred to as the City of Redwood City and the American Red <br />Cross Bay Area, hereinafter referred to as Red Cross. <br /> <br />The fellowing agreement, along with its supporting addendum, provides the framework for <br />a collaborative effort between the Red Cro~ and the City of Redwood City to provide <br />emergency shelter for disaster displaced members of our community. <br /> <br />The parties hereto desire to reach an understanding, that will result in making the facilities <br />and equipment of the City of Redwood City available to the Red Cross for the aforesaid <br />use. Now, therefore, it is mutually agreed between parties as follows: <br /> <br />1. The City of Redwood City agrees that, after meeting its emergency responsibilities <br />to its clients and staff, it will permit, to the extent of its ability and upon request by Red <br />Cro~, use of predssignated facilities identified in addendum #1, as temporary mss care <br />shelters for victims of disaster~ <br /> <br />Red Cro~ and the City of Redwood City agree to cooperate in selecting of the facilities that <br />~ be listed in addendum #1. <br /> <br />The City of Redwood City agrees to provide, and to periodically update, facility and point <br />of eontact information to the Red Cro~. <br /> <br />2. The Red Cro~ agrees, when normal communications methods are possible, to follow <br />the notification proeedurss outlined in addendum #2, when it needs to establish a shelter at <br />one of the listed facilities. <br /> <br />3. The City of Redwood City agrees that prior to reicasing a facility for use as a Red <br />Cross shelter, it dill to the extent reasonably possible, evaluate the facility and secure any <br />valuable property not required for shelter operations. <br /> <br />Red Cross agrees that it will exercise reasonable care in the conduct of its activities in such <br />facilities and when provided with documented inventory and cost information, further <br />agrees to replace or reimburse the City of Redwood City for any food, supplies or damage <br />to the facility or equipment arising from the conduct of shelter activities. <br /> <br />Upon tel'ruination of its use as a shelter, Red Cross agrees to leave the premises in their <br />original condition. <br /> <br />4. Red Cross agrees to provide training to the appropriate members of the facility staff <br />in Mass Care and Shelter Operations. <br /> <br /> <br />
