EXHIBIT "A" <br /> SMITH-EMERY GEOSERVICES <br /> <br /> August 25, 1997 <br /> Proposal No.: SF 97-090 <br /> <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />The project description is based on our review of the project plans and specifications. <br />Additional information was obtained from conversations with City of Redwood City <br />personnel. Estimates are approximate with quantities based on the unit item schedule <br />presented in the project specifications, and sample types and frequencies. We understand <br />that actual field and laboratory services shall be on an as-needed basis, and will be <br />determined by the City during construction. <br /> <br />We understand that the project will consist of the replacement and installation of 12,325 <br />feet of PVC watermain, and associated laterals located in the City of Redwood City. <br />Project construction will consist of existing watermain replacement, pipe bedding, trench <br />backfill, and laboratory testing. Asphalt pavement operations and reconstruction will be <br />determined by the City of Redwood City. <br /> <br />SCOPE OF SERVICES <br /> <br />Review projects plans and specification for conformance with requirements. <br /> <br />Compaction testing of soils, aggregate base, aggregate subbase, bedding materials, and <br />Asphaltic concrete. <br /> <br />Perform laboratory testing and reporting to support earthwork operations. <br /> <br />Monitor all earthwork operations and provide field density testing of operations. <br /> <br />Prepare a report of compacted materials for submission to the City of Redwood City and <br />the County of San Mateo. <br /> <br /> ESTIMATE <br /> <br /> Smith-Emery GeoServices is prepared to undertake this project on an as-needed basis in <br /> accordance with the attached schedule of fees and detailed cost breakdown. The estimated <br /> cost for the scope of work outlined in this proposal for quantities and times are based on <br /> review of construction documents. We understand that actual field and laboratory <br /> services shall be on an as-needed basis, and will be determined by the City during <br /> construction. <br /> <br /> Please note that om costs are dependent on the rate of progress of the contractor and <br /> changes in the time to complete the work may result in changes in our costs.
