Alfred Habeeb, 1486 MacDonald, ob,7ected to the proposed rezoning and to any pro,7ect being developed on the sub,7ect property because of the - increased car ownership in the area which residential development would bring Mr Habeeb also suggested adequate sewerage and water � do not exist for the kind of development contemplated by the proposed . rezoning Terrence 0'Ne�ll, 1445 Bonnie Court, stated he is concerned about in- creased traffic in the neighborhood if residential development is per- mitted and suggested that such development might mean a reduction of available water for present City res�dents , Mr 0'Neill suggested no construction be permitted until a more adequate water supply is available Discussion followed and City Attorney Schricker commented and replied to questions concerning the fact that only a proposed rezoning of property is before Council and not a development plan, that the sub- � ,7ect property is not vacant but is being operated as a nursery and uses both sewers and water so that possible residential use of the same property would not involve any ma�or increase in such use, and that staff and Council have worked with trade unions and developers ' with regard to water conservation in an attempt to avoid any more unemployment in the City where a high level of unemployment already ex�sts , Mayor Leipzig invited anyone else present who wished to speak to do so No one present wished to speak MOTION Councilman Biagi moved, seconded by Councilman Vega, to close the public hearing 1 The motion carried unanimously by voice vote � The public hearing was closed at 7 46 p m � MOTION Title having been read, Councilman Biagi introduced the following ordinance and moved, seconded by Councilman Bury, its approval for first reading ORDINANCE ADDING SECTION 60 15 3 TO ORDINANCE NO 1130, THE REDWOOD CITY ZONING ORDINANCE, REZONING PROPERTY IN THE VICINITY OF VALOTA ROAD AND PALM AVENUE � The ordinance was approved unanimously by roll call vote , � -2- � I Reg Mtg 4/11/77 � �
