It was noted that Ray Cook i> the Chamber of Commerce representa- tive present this evening Law Enforcement Assistance Administration LEAA Bud et 1978 Councilman Barrett, representative to the Criminal Justice Council of San Mateo County, called attent�on to an urgent letter he re- ceived today from Anne Taylor, Executive Director of the Council, regarding proposed budget cuts for LEAA totaling $510 mill�on, representing a one-third reduction over last year's allocation Mrs Taylor's letter noted that LEAA provides the only federal ass�stance made available to local government to address the issue of crime and urged Council to make their opposition to the proposed ' budget cuts known to the House and Senate which will both consider the matter this week.
