Mayor Le�pzig advised that Mr Tompkins was unable to be present to recetve the resolution in person, but that the framed parchment copy would be delivered to him, and expressed apprec�ation on be- half of Counc�l for his many years of service to the City and wished him many happy, rewarding years of retirement Public Hearing - Appeal of the denial by the ' Plamm �q Commission of application to prezone property at 101 Horqan Avenue - Bernard P Hagan, appellant Mayor Leipzig declared open at 7 40 p m the sub�ect public hearing Deputy City Clerk Reggetts reported the Affidavit of Publication of Notice of Hearing and Affidavit of Mailing are on file Bernard Hagan, 2270 Bay Road, appellant, corranented briefly on the type of development proposed for the property and referred to an enlarged photograph of a similar pro�ect developed by his company. Bob Royston, land planner, advised that he had worked with the Hagan Construction Company for a number of years, and believed the site was well located for the proposed pro�ect, that the pro�ect would be designed to preserve open space, and that if the prezoning is approved, they would work with staff to achieve the most desirable proposal In response to question by Council, he advised that` 50-60% of the property would be landscaped � I�r Hummert indicated he was a merchant at Woodside Plaza Shopping Center and corrnnented favorably on the quality of previous pro�ects of the developer, such as Woodside Road condom�niums, and belteved ' that more residential facilities were needed in the area Jack Turner President of the Woodside Road condominium homeowners association, expressed pride and satisfaction with regard to their condominium apartments Rick Richardson Terrace Realty, spoke of the need for additional housing in Redwood City, and suggested this pro�ect would be an asset to the City Mayor Leipzig called attention to the fact that the matter before Council is not for approval of any pro�ect, but rather an applica- tion for prezoning of property in unincorporated territory. - Tom Freeman Woodside Plaza Merchants Association, indicated that he believed zon�ng the lands to residential would be beneficial and that there was more than adequate commercial development in Redwood City Herb Frahm Civil Engineer, responded to quest�on by Council re- garding whether an application had been submitted to the County, advising that no application had been filed, but there had been discussions on an engineering level with the thought of develop- ing in the County and utilizing the sewer facilities within the County, and as a result of the discussions a program was developed ' Reg Mtg - Z - 10/17/77 �i� Y
